There's no official reason given, but the guy quit in summer - they can't just expect him to come back.

That's true, but I figured since they had that whole contest going that he'd stick around, even though I found it weird that they were still promoting it despite his having left.

Yeah. I can only imagine that he's got himself a job and doesn't want to leave. And good on him. He's gone to be a dad and I like to think they'd respect that.
