Dear Ty Pennington,

Me again.

THAT WAS A HUNDRED YEAR OLD HOUSE! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?

It's no wonder you guys don't have any history, is it?

Aggravated of London.

What happened, did he demolish the house?

That sucks, but it's possible that the house was in really bad shape and couldn't be saved. I'd say that more than half of the houses here in St. John's are 100+ years old and they're DUMPS. Houses back then often weren't built very well (at least here, anyway) and lack of upkeep just speeds up the deterioration. The last place I lived in before I moved to my current apartment was 150 years old and was appallingly bad, and incredibly cold (the house only had newspaper for insulation).

Also, my dad did home renovations for a living and sometimes it's just not cost effective to try and salvage a house that old, particularly if it's not up to code (which very few houses of that age are).

Sorry to be a devil's advocate here, but I'm just sayin'. :/
