*Yawn*

Good, God, I'm tired. I should be working on TWNW, but I can't get my brain in gear. I find myself wanting to work on another project I haven't unleashed on the world, yet, but I haven't posted TWNW since the War started because I was working on that other project (which all sounds so cryptic, but it's really not).

I have an investigation tomorrow night - at Cressing Temple Barns - so I need to sleep late and can't go to bed, yet. Plus, Criminal Minds is about to start.

Little Joe is doing well. Marginally crusty today, but nothing major. Still looking totally fucking adorable. I also have a new idea about my Cobra, which I'm getting a week tomorrow, and that's just going to be awesome. I can't wait to show you guys. [livejournal.com profile] scoobygang63 is coming with me - it's going to be ace.

God. So, so tired... I've been feeling really crappy all week. Have come to the conclusion it's related to the additional milk I've been having - maybe [livejournal.com profile] jackie_brown was right about having mild lactose intolerance. I've felt continually nauseous and unsettled and I have a headache much of the time.

Whatever Mapie just cooked spells horrible and makes me feel worse. Ew.

Roll on ten o'clock so I can go to bed.

Man, I hope for your sakes you don't develop a severe lactose intolerance or anything, because that kinda sucks. They seriously put milk in everything.

I really hope not, too. I love cheese.

I know, I am still in mourning, kinda, for the loss of cheese.

If you do turn out to be intolerant, try redwood (www.redwoodfoods.co.uk) who are an online, UK-based, vegan company. Obviously you might not need any of their meat substitutes but their cheese is the nicest fake stuff I've tasted. The super melting stuff is amazing on pizza.

Awesome - thank you, hon.

I don't really know whether it's something I can get tested for or not.

[identity profile] likethepaint.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
When my niece was suspected to have lactose intolerance they took her to the GP, and to be honest I don't think they suspected lactose intolerance at this point, just illness, but she was tested by either the nurse or the doctor at the GP and then sent to a dietitian. I'm afraid I don't talk to my sister that much so I can't realy give you anything more than that.

But! I do also know that a friend of mine thought she had a milk allergy and last time I spoke to her she was planning on getting it tested on the NHS, so you can be tested for it, but I wouldn't know exactly how you would go about getting the test.

Cool. A friend of mine, the one who suggested the lactose intolerance, is about to do her final year before she becomes a nutritionist. I'll get her to check me out.

She already had me on a ten-day dairy free diet and it damn near killed me. I couldn't go lactose free, I don't think.

It's hard. I can't imagine how hard it'll be for you because I was born and raised a vegan, and had about a 3 year lapse into vegetarianism, to try and get over illness. I remember going back to veganism last year and it was hell enough just trying to work out what I could and couldn't eat again. I remember sitting down and just crying because I'd gone through every cupboard in our house and everything had milk or something in it. It's difficult, but I can honestly say a year on I hardly notice it most of the time, there are points where you just want to cry because there's milk in the stupidest things, but you learn, I guess.

[identity profile] rosiedoes.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah - it's like they say about all diets, I guess: it's about changing the way you eat, rather than just what you eat.

[identity profile] likethepaint.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's rough to start out with, but once you've learnt what you can and cant eat you start devising recipes and forming a new diet around the foods you can eat and then your tastes adapt to that diet.

[identity profile] rosiedoes.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
...but I still hope I don't end up lactose intolerant! DX

[identity profile] likethepaint.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well yes. I have my fingers crossed for you.

[identity profile] rosiedoes.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, hon!

Dude, your Little Joe is righteous.

Hi.

He is way more adorable than I ever anticipated.
