sherlockbbc Comm FAQ draft post
Okay, ladies - suggestions in comments, post updated as we go:
sherlockbbc Community FAQ
Q1. What is the purpose of
sherlockbbc?
A. To provide a friendly, all-encompassing centre for Sherlock fans to share their fan fiction, fan art, fandom news and assorted other whimsy which would be interesting to the average Sherlock fan.
Q2. Do you allow RPF or RPS fiction to be posted to the comm?
A. No. A user vote was held and it was decided that it didn't fall entirely within the realm of Sherlock as a series and could be better accommodated by existing RPF comms, such as
sherlockrpf and
holmes_rpf.
Q3. Is there an archive of the fics posted in the comm?
A. We have a Delicious account established by a kindly user who wishes to remain nameless. Alternatively, authors can tag their fics using a variety of headings, from main characters to rating, and those can be used to search by preference within the community.
Q4. Can I post news about Sherlock cast members' projects?
A. Certainly, as long as the information is new and hasn't been posted before - you can find out by checking the relevant tags for the actor.
Q5. What about their previous projects?
A. Each of the main actors has their own Master Post, detailing the projects they have been in and the picspams/links people have shared on those subjects. Anything which has already been filmed/recorded and released can go in these posts.
The actors' Master Posts are found at the links below:
Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes)
Martin Freeman (Dr John Watson)
Rupert Graves (DI Lestrade)
Andrew Scott (Jim Moriarty)
Everyone else
Q6. My post was deleted and I'm not sure why. Help?
A. The main reasons a post will be deleted is if it's off-topic or repetition of a recent post. In those instances, the mod deleting the post will drop you a comment before they do so. If you're still unsure feel free to ask for clarification at [mod post].
Q7. How do I know how to tag my post?
A. There is an option to select tags at the bottom of the post; these are categorised to make searching easier, for example: pairing: sherlock&john or fanworks: fanart. If you're not sure, use the oblig 'how do I tag this?' tag and one of the mods will update it for you.
N.B. Do try to be as logical as you can with tags and not add too many within the same field, such as fic categories. Adding category: angst + category: fluff + category: slash + category: kids + category: non-con will only confuse people (and look a bit creepy, in that combination).
Q8. Are downloads of TV, radio or film projects permitted? How about requests?
A: Yes, but please keep both in [mod post]. Anything uploaded or downloaded is done so at the individual's own risk. The moderators take no responsibility for ensuring the legality of material shared on this community, however, we encourage users to remember that even locked posts aren't 100% secure, and to expect to receive requests if a download link expires/crashes.
Q9. What do I do if I have a question or suggestion?
A. The easiest way will be to comment on this post. If you would prefer to ask a question in private, please feel free to PM any of the mods:
awesome,
vinylsigns or
icedmaple
