I can totally imagine Pete doing something crazy and self-destructive like fucking his life up by boning a 15 year old even though he loves Ashlee and is about to have a kid with her. Just because he's not sure he deserves to be happy or he thinks the kid and Ashlee deserve better or some ridiculous bullshit to be saved for cryptic pronoun-ridden poetry.
