Ah, how this reminds me of Saturday Coffee, years ago...

Julie and I have a large bowl of sweets and no trick or treaters. So we're watching Donnie Darko by candle light and munching candy. By a weird fluke, we just realised it's 20 years today from when this is set.

My throat has been inflamed and sore for days, but today it actually kills like a motherfucker and I saw how swollen it is in the mirror. Not stopping me from eating a ton of crap, though.

And Jake Gyllenhaal? Creeps me out, because he's in his twenties, convincingly sixteen, looks a lot like my brother and is oddly attractive.

Does anyone else find Doug (as in 'Does') slightly smarmy and incredibly unappealing?

You know what really disturbs me? The number of people who want kids to have access to the porn they post in their journals.

Fucking hell.

They can dress it up as freedom of speech all they want, but I'm uncomfortable with the idea of very young teenagers accessing graphic sex, be it imagery or slash. And I know that they can circumvent precautions if they want to, but the adults squealing that they should be actively allowed to post what they like and that it's not their responsibility to care, is frankly disgusting.

If you post something, you need to be aware of who is going to see it and maybe moderate yourself accordingly. If LJ is giving you an avenue to do that - which really is only one click's inconvenience to other adults - why the fuck would you oppose it? Kids use this site. Kids click links. Fuck - I click links and find myself disturbed by the stuff I find there. Why are people so very eager to make sure EVERYONE, EVER can access stuff that might not be suitable?

It's sickening. And reads to me as nothing more than selfishness. People are more concerned about making sure everyone can read their glorious Mary Sue than they are just preventing the risk of the wrong eyes stumbling on it.

The fact that so many of the people arguing for it claim to be parents really freaks me out. What are they giving their children access to?

So, someone on my flist linked to pics of RyRo and his 'girlfriend'.

Everyone is squeeing over them, but personally, I think they're fucking awful. They look posed, contrived and very Mrs Robinson.

Now, I couldn't give a fuck about who the kid dates - I'm not even a big enough fan to know he was dating her before I saw these - but these pictures are just creepy, to me. They look like someone's thought, "Hm, what do people consider 'romantic'? Let's do that!" and in the third one, where she's straddling him, he looks like a teenage boy trying not to giggle and complain of girl cooties.

Number six looks like someone was taking a tourist shot of the bridge and some obnoxious bastards decided to stand right in the middle of anotherwise lovely photograph.

They do not look like 'candid shots', kids. They look like a little boy trying to convince himself and everyone else he knows what to do with girls. It's fucking grotesque.

Most of you are way too young to understand genuine love, so maybe that's why you mistake these crappysnaps for beautiful manifestations of it, but you're way, way off.

And yes, that is very patronising, but I don't care. It disturbs me to think that you're going to mistake this Hallmark bullshit for the real thing.
