Julie and I have decided to have a joint birthday party, this year - my birthday being 26 November and hers 16 December (yes, we are planning ahead) - but we need some ideas.

Things of birthdays past:

- ghost walks
- seafood restaurants
- cinema
- trips to Chicago
- karaoke
- Dan O'Connor

Jubekka and I don't drink, but we don't mind (to an extent) if other people do. Also, it'll be approaching Christmas, so the chances of hiring anywhere are veeeery slim.

Any thoughts?

I has a birfdy!

Things that made today awesome:

- all the lovely birthday wishes I've received throughout the day, on here, on Facebook and on the Fuck City forum, where someone actually created a thread for it;
- waking up to a ficlet from [livejournal.com profile] untelling who is amazing and needs to write more;
- finding out [livejournal.com profile] ashe_frost had bought me paid time for one of my LJs ♥ ;
- [livejournal.com profile] shiny_starlight driving us all the way to Southampton and back, despite being sick;
- awesome cupcakes from [livejournal.com profile] fadefromblack;
- getting to show Dan O'Connor the tattoo [livejournal.com profile] shiny_starlight and [livejournal.com profile] likethepaint bought me, after he'd told us the song I quoted was one of his current favourites (he had to tug my shirt down to see it. ♥_♥);
- the look on Dan's face when he saw the enormous quantity of sweets we'd brought them (and then getting to see him eagerly hacking his way into a plastic carton of flying saucers with my door key);
- a moment of sXe unity with FYS's merch guy, Josh;
- over-hearing people telling each other that my new tattoo is awesome in the ladies' at the venue;
- listening to Fast Times all the way home and explaining to Julie how the lyrics inadvertantly plotted out the course of TWNW;
- checking my Twitter and the Fuck City forum en route, and finding not one, but two messages from one of my favourite people ever:

All in all it has been a pretty wonderful birthday. The only way it could have been improved would have been to have picked the whole shebang up and having it happen in Chicago. ♥

You guys are all wonderful. Thank you so much.

Hey kids,

Having an awesome time -
♥ changed a tyre on the Interstate - traffic side! - by ourselves and got the seal of approval from a Random Rugged Dude™ at a gas station, for our handywork;
♥ met Jack The Camera Guy Who Was Clearly The Hottest Person On That Tour (he is so, so cute, guys. SO CUTE!);
♥ watched Cobra & TAI's soundchecks in St Louis;
♥ watched them film the new TAI TV;
♥ met up with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] babygotbass & [livejournal.com profile] _lolapolooza and had deep and meaningful discussions about the inner-workings of the Wentzmind;
♥ saw two adorable teenage boys who were clearly dating (and couldn't have been more than about sixteen and were very boyish and not at all camp) and spent all the show sitting on the balcony snuggling and being adorably tender with each other, which basically made our night - we all felt insanely proud of them, I think, for having the nerve;
♥ was recorded for the TAI DVD (don't know whether it'll be on there but we were asked to record a message);
♥ met all of Cobra, at last (these kids are genuinely lovely people, really);
♥ met Jay J. and Neeraj from HRE for lunch, with Andy from Hewhocorrupts;
♥ hung out with the awesome guys from the Clan Store (♥ - J will be visiting next year so we're going to hang out);
♥ got my own Bat Heart Bar hoodie made (pics later);
♥ bought the Ninjas, Summer Camp & Drama King Clan shirts (yay!);
♥ got our new tattoos (this is on my outer right forearm):

Jay R. totally got what I meant with the scratchy stars - the girl is amazing and will be in the UK in summer! Woohoo! We have agreed to meet up.

It's been generally awesome, so far. Heading out for breakfast and a drive, now.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, guys!

Oh man. I am so dull. So, so fucking dull.

In five weeks or so, I will be going to Chicago and celebrating my 25th birthday on Monday, 26th November. So far the plan consists of going for dinner at a seafood restaurant.

Guess what I did last year?

And the year before?

Guess what I'll probably do next year?

However, dinner doesn't take that long, does it? So, you'd plan something for after. Except:

1. I don't drink and I pretty much hate bars.
2. I don't dance.
3. I can't sing any more, so no karaoke.
4. I don't go to the theatre, I just act in them occasionally.
5. I don't want to go to the cinema.

What the fuck else can you do in a city while all dressed up for a nice meal?

For those of you coming to Loch Fyne, tomorrow, I'll be a little bit on the femme side of dressy, so if anyone wants to join in to stop me feeling awkward I would love you more than I already do.

I just went shopping! Yay! for pay arriving in my account two days early!

I bought:

  • a pair of shoes for tomorrow, but which will be fine for work as well;
  • a cropped cardigan with elbow-length sleeves which covers the worst of my scars, makes my boobs look like two bowling balls in a sock and my waist stupidly small. Yay!
  • essential make up that I was running out of (eyeliner, green eyeshadow, foundation);
  • a Christmas present each for Jasmine and Saffron, the young cousins - more to follow because I can't help spoiling them;
  • some cosmic blue (black with blue tints) hair dye because I'm bored with dark brown;
  • a metallic pink digital camera, because I broke the last one and I want to take pictures tomorrow.

    All this for under £120. I win at shopping!

    I really like the outfit I have for tomorrow, as well - so that's good. It's a bit 1940s, with a hint of 1920s.

    I think I'll go and dye my hair, now. :D
  • Squee!

    I got a present in the post, today! It's a book called Powder Puff Derby, and it's about female pilots, but there was no name or card so I don't know who sent it! O_O

    [livejournal.com profile] sassygirl - was it you?! You're the only person I can think of who asked for my address, recently...

    Whoever it was, thank you!! It's awesome - very me. ♥

    The world's a bit quiet tonight, isn't it?

    I'm mystified by the blackout on reports of the Road Rampage in West London, earlier... some guy ran around attacking people, killing one and injuring eight WITH HIS BARE HANDS (I wonder if it was actually my mother. Or Berti. Except he doesn't drive). But it's not on the BBC news page. Not properly, anyway. They've got a sort of footnote saying it happened.

    They actually have the BA argument as a main story, and that's seriously old hat.

    *twilight zone*

    I have pizza tonight. Hurrah. Being a piglet once in a while is alright when you've spent a week on about 1200 calories a day, isn't it? (So what if it was last week?) It goes well with Hamster getting hyponotised on Top Gear. He's such a dork. The fact he's tiny enough to fit in a toy car is so cute I want one. A tiny Top Gear presenter, not a toy car.

    Really looking forward to oysters at the weekend. Hee! Come to me, my pretties...

    Would it be shockingly glutinous of me to get the £40 seafood platter and eat it all to myself...? None of the mains look quite so delicious as the prospect of ALL THAT SEAFOOD. Why on earth would anyone ruin a lobster by stirfrying it?

    This week actually marks eight years since I discovered the Manic Street Preachers and met my old mate Simey on a Manics chatroom. He looks a bit like Boyan. He thinks. Simon is 31 today. He was younger than me when we met... O_O

    Not heard from my dear daddy in... months. I wonder if he'll remember my birthday. It's usually the only time I hear from him at all... I could do with the birthday money for the Canada fund. I will go, next year, dammit! (Twice)

    I'm bored.

    I have now booked the restaurant for my birthday:

    Loch Fyne, Covent Garden
    2.00pm for 2.30pm

    Myself
    Helen & Luke
    Elise
    Vin

    I booked an extra place just in case.

    The Final Poll

    Seeing as you're all too hopeless to actually tell me, here are the tickyboxes:

    [Poll #867442]

    Please answer, and please tell me if you're a vegetarian or dislike fish (Andrew: they have salmon) so I can make sure they have enough of their other dishes, if you're coming to Loch Fyne. Thanks.

    Stuff.

    So, the other day, Helen was demanding to know what I wanted for my birthday. Frankly, I don't like asking for stuff or assuming that people are going to buy me anything, so I usually tell people to pick something themselves. But I know some of you, like me, are rubbish at choosing things and hate feeling under pressure to buy something good.

    Therefore, below is not so much a wishlist as an idea list. If you're inclined to buy me something and stuck about what to choose, something along these lines would alway be appreciated:

  • Mead. I love mead. Preferably sweet, and if you can find some interesting variations (I saw raspberry mead online, which sounded interesting) all the better.

  • Albums. CDs. I currently like Fallout Boy's new stuff and don't have the new My Chemical Romance or Lost Prophet albums. I also only have Brand New's Deja Entendu. And I like Bruce Springsteen.

  • My favourite colour is green. I especially like things on the teal-side of green.

  • Office is my favourite shoe shop, Dorothy Perkins my favourite clothes shop. Gift vouchers, however small, are cool.

  • I'm seriously allergic to non-sterling silver metals, so as much as I love funky jewellery, if you go for that sort of thing, please check the label. And I don't have pierced ears.

  • WWII or military stuff is FOR THE WIN.

  • I really don't read much. And I have no desire to. But I do have an obsession with cool notebooks.

    ---

    The birthday plan remains Lunch at Loch Fyne, around 2pm on Sunday 26th November. This is my actual birthday, hence the unusual times.

    It is really important that I know who is coming, especially if you're vegetarian as I will need to let them know some of our party will be wanting their only two vegetarian dishes.

    Thanks, kids.

    Finally, if you can't do the meal and don't want to do Spamalot at some point, please let me know so I can arrange something else.
  • Mumble, mumble.

    CJ says the Circumference DVD is almost ready! Hurrah!

    Can't wait to see that...

    The new stuff on his mySpacks, from the Lotus Awards piece he did, is really cool. Like the world's most surreal, marescape fairground EVER. You expect the film to be full of creepy identical twins in matching outfits, people on stilts in candy-stripe trousers and evil little girls with big round lollies or candy floss.

    All from the point of view of someone dying slowly in the middle. And drifting into the arms of awaiting angels and being heralded into heaven by a holy chorus.

    No idea what the film itself is about, but CJ's music does tend to have a habit of making pictures in my head. With most music, it flows along to scenes from stories, or I picture the video. But somehow, CJ's creates images of its own. Scary fucking ones at that. I wish the old stuff was still up on profile. There were a couple of bits I used to listen to a lot...

    I realised, the other day, that I really don't post that much personal stuff in here. I mean - I post random thoughts, which are probably better snapshots of what I'm doing than long, meandering posts about the events of the day, would - but when I'm not talking about the Pretteh or my evil housemate or the website, I don't have much to say.

    I don't know if that'll ever change, really. I don't have much of consquence happening in my life. Nothing that really needs documenting for posterity. I wish I did - really. But never mind - if Puj, Elly, Stella and I won the Euro Millions tonight I'm sure we'll have something to talk about...

    You lot are hopeless, by the way. I need to know exactly how many of you will be coming to my birthday lunch so I can book the table. Please let me know.

    Watching innocent Japanse people get nuked is not a wise thing to do on the day you find your w00bie has left his job.

    It's really not. And I, therefore, am stupid.

    I am also turning 24 on the last Sunday of the month. That would be 26th. I want to go to Loch Fyne for a late lunch 2pm-ish on the Sunday. If necessary, we can do a film after.

    At a later date, I would also like to do Spamalot.

    Who's coming?
    rosiedoes: (Me: Kiss)
    So, liek uh - anyone wanna do Spamalot for my birthday. Possibly Monday 27th?

    Me! Me!

    rosiedoes: (Me: Popart)
    Okay, kids: My Birthday.

    Rudimentary plans are as follows:

    Saturday 25th or Sunday 26th (my actual birthday) November - meal at Loch Fyne in Covent Garden. It is a fish restaurant, but their menu does have a menu and vegetarian section. The plan will be to book in advance, so, to prevent disappointment (as Helen experienced last time) if anyone has dodgy dietary requirements we could let them know in advance.

    Have a poll for easy reference:

    [Poll #847061]

    The weekend after, I would like to have a second celebration of a less stately sort (if Andrew can, I can). This would need to start or continue into the evening as I will be damned if I'm having any sort of party without Helen!

    I would love to do something really fucking cool, like paintballing, but I can't see any of you pansy-arsed bitches delicate and composed individuals being too into getting bruised by exploding marbles of paint, so I'll accept that as a non-starter. Quasar would be cool, but they only give you about 47 seconds for a small fortune, as I remember it, so I think that would be a bit of a waste.

    If anyone has any awesome ideas, do tell. Or get together behind my back and kidnap me. That would also be cool - assuming it doesn't result in my being tied semi-naked to a lamppost in Argyll...

    I'll do anything that doesn't involve spiders or tuna. Or dancing.

    So:

    [Poll #847062]
    rosiedoes: (Me: Popart)
    Have been in touch with Dell. They are sending me a new adaptor. WOOHOO!

    Not sure how soon, but if I remember correctly it was within a couple of days, last time. Desperately hope it's dispatched today. Surely they have those premade, right?

    In other news: Psychic Development last night was Of The Awesome. Apparently, I'm good when it comes to the ghostlies, even if I could read your biography and not be able to tell you fuck all about yourself (unless you're a little-known actor and probably based in Vancouver).

    Also: Tim Matthews (#3 in the TCO network) has a website, but just for his music. KWEET! ♥

    Also also: Still nothing from Boyan. :( I dunno... you try to do someone a favour...

    ALSO also also: it's my birthday nine days after [livejournal.com profile] anw's (making it 26th November). Far be it from me to steal his decadial thunder, but what do you bitches fancy doing? I'll take suggestions and then do a poll at a later date. My birthday this year, my 24th I'm not ashamed to say, falls on the Sunday immediately before the Monday when I get paid. Which bites. However, would people like to go out for a nice, quiet drink or dinner on the Saturday and then celebrate proper the weekend after? The choice is yours.

    Pimp in comments. Danke.
