Well, I'm officially here, now. [community profile] damagereport has been uploaded, I might go and upload my old X2 fics as well, seeing as I already have a Charles/Erik, Bobby/John one on there...

Does anyone have any comms to recommend? Any people I know (and like) who I should add?

Re-post of an old fic

If you know where my ficjournal is, I've just reposted an Erik/Charles fic I wrote back around the time of X2.

So, [livejournal.com profile] shiny_starlight and I have decided to get back to work on a fic we were co-writing FIVE YEARS AGO, in the Stargate fandom. That fic was a sequel to a fic I'd written previously, about characters I'd brought out of the realm of the secondary/tertiary/redshirt (oh yes) and created a whole backstory for.

The sequel featured a crossover with a parallelish universe, in which alternate versions of themselves were forced to meet and work together.

The problem now? I'm having to devise a whole backstory for the AU!versions and in that I find myself wanting to WRITE THEIR WHOLE BACKSTORY. It has [EDIT: I have no idea how this sentence ended or where it went.]

Goddammit.

The other day, I read an awesome story by [livejournal.com profile] coricomile, which was a very long and well-written Patroh piece.

It made me miss writing in bandom so badly, and reminded me of all those stories I was writing and never finished. It also made me miss Fall Out Boy, which is probably worse. I'm seeing The Damned Things on Saturday, and I have never been so proud of Joe and what he's accomplished, but god, I still hanker for the early noughties and chubbiness and awkward, bambi limbs crammed into tour vans...

I did think about going back to bandom fic after Joe made That Comment to me, but I don't know. It's hard, not having really written for a year. Eighteen months, in the case of TWNW. I would still love to finish that fic, but I doubt I ever will. There was so much to fix.

Damn.

I'm supposed to be working on the Shelock bigbang, but I just can't get into it, because I'm thinking about bandom.

Erm.

I don't suppose anyone wants to help me work through my big bang plot, do they? I'm meant to have the first draft in next weekend and I have about 900 words, so far.
rosiedoes: (Sherlock: Baker Street)
So, it would seem I am planning to write a Sherlock big bang fic.

I've never done one of those before; I'm not worried about the length - fic of great length tends to be my area - and I even have a basic idea for the fic, after discussing various things with [livejournal.com profile] vinylsigns the other week.

I also know that it will ultimately have to be the story of their falling (and accepting that they have fallen) in love, because no one seems to have quite accomplished that fic, yet. The only getting together (if you could call it that) fics of any kind in this fandom usually involved rampant sexual escapades or one sudden deduction and a surreal snog against the nearest wall... and I just don't think it would be like that.

Slow-burning seems much more their kind of thing; something which would slip under the radar and Sherlock couldn't deduct the shit out of, because the changes would be so gradual. Kind of like watching your SO get fat; you don't notice because you see them every day, but then one day you see a picture from a year earlier and think, "Wow. No more Two for Tuesday, then."

So, I basically know what I'm writing, I just don't know how to set it out. May have to occupy myself with a fanvid in the meantime... Hm.

ETA: And for the record 'The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot' would make an excellent Sherlock song. But I don't think I'll vid that one.

FFS.

This fandom needs a Brit-picker or at the very least, a Brit-picking guide.
rosiedoes: (FOB: SrsBiz)
So, let's say I'd received some unexpected encouragement to write fic again...

Does anyone still have any interest?

Aw...

Return of the fic.

I thought I'd give up there for a while, but TWNW 17 is virtually complete. It'll be up today, guaranteed.

Anyone want to give it a read-through before I post?

Edit: I do believe that's done. Betas?
rosiedoes: (SP: Balls)

(People who aren't Matte, don't be surprised if you don't get the in-jokes if you're not familiar with the universe...)

And for the sake of comparison - Toby and Micah )

This is a serious question relating to a debate between [livejournal.com profile] likethepaint, [livejournal.com profile] shiny_starlight and myself.

NOTE THAT I MEAN COMPLETELY ALONE, NO PARENT WATCHING OR HELPING AT ALL.

I kind of want to write an early days fic in which Joe and Patrick are referred to by Pete as Jay & Silent Bob and that's where Patrick's 'Lunchbox' nickname comes from.

Being Human

rosiedoes: (CS: Meh)
I just watched the pilot of Being Human.

The backstory was good (I liked knowing George's view on his faith - weirdly in the Sixteen Candleverse fic I was writing, the Jew was a werewolf, too; and I liked his reaction in the isolation room - his choice and how hard it was), but I like the series version better.

I really did not need a compulsion to finish/re-write Into The Sun, goddammit.

Ficathon thing

Everyone go join this:

Basically, it's a ficathon writing stuff based around the new laws/changes Barack Obama wants to pass (gay couples adopting, civil unions/marriages, hate crimes). It's a pretty cool concept, knowing how into him a lot of bandom are.

Plus: someone needs to fulfill my goddamn prompt whenever I think of one.

Fic rec: Extraordinary Things by [livejournal.com profile] mickety_split.

Short Patroh piece. Just totally nailed. One of the best in bandom. Make sure you comment and tell her so.
rosiedoes: (Atlantis: City)
Oh man.

Someone has been commenting on my old Stackhouse/Markham fics. I never finished Night Lights and I totally wish I had.

I miss that fandom. It was so easy on the wank.

I'm really tempted, but I have so much going on in this fandom.
