Comedy.

I was accused of being racist, tonight.

(Yeah, I know.)

Goodness - what part was she supposed to be playing ?(because I suppose she could just about get away with the Keeley Hawes role if you are going for historical veracity - but not the other part really, she being a winkle picker from Kent or something.)

I am researching Victorian music hall performers for this novel thing I am writing and I can't remember her name, but there was one famous black female music hall artist at the turn of the century. And a few Americans. So I suppose it's sort of feasible.

Well, it's her and Eva Longoria.

And being directed by Sofia Coppola. O_o

How odd. Presumably it's moved to America with that cast then?

I don't know, but it's going to be shit if it is.

Race aside I can't see either of those being particularly convincing in any sort of period movie (I can just about picture them in the 20s or 30s - but anything before that is going to be one hell of a stretch) - they are both entirely too shiny and modern-seeming.

It'd be like a bad Moulin Rouge thing, I think.
