Goodness - what part was she supposed to be playing ?(because I suppose she could just about get away with the Keeley Hawes role if you are going for historical veracity - but not the other part really, she being a winkle picker from Kent or something.)

I am researching Victorian music hall performers for this novel thing I am writing and I can't remember her name, but there was one famous black female music hall artist at the turn of the century. And a few Americans. So I suppose it's sort of feasible.

Race aside I can't see either of those being particularly convincing in any sort of period movie (I can just about picture them in the 20s or 30s - but anything before that is going to be one hell of a stretch) - they are both entirely too shiny and modern-seeming.
