London Town.

I have to say, seeing all this footage of London and the icons and things really does make me almost-nearly miss London.

And then I remember the air is like soup and I miss it less.

But still! So much history running down those streets.

Brighton's not so far away, that you couldn't visit once in a while :)

It's not the same by a long, long stretch.

Besides, even with a NRC, the train fare is expensive and it's chokingly dirty and I just... don't enjoy it; just the thought of it.

This is how I feel about Boston--it's noisy and often dirty, but it's made of history and I adore it (and being able to get there in an hour by train is good for spontaneous visits).

I could get to London in the same time, but it would cost at least £13, rather than the $0.50 you guys pay for a cross-country trip. XD

London makes me feel claustrophobic and grubby, but I spent so long living there and late at night, in the back streets you can almost feel the echo of all the people who have walked there over the centuries.

But mostly, it's a hell pit.

I feel the same about Los Angeles, actually. Minus the fondness, cuz seriously, fuck that place.

It always amuses me when people who haven't lived there are all like, "YEAH, LONDON! IMMA FUCKIN' LOVE IT!" and I'm like, "Ordered your sars guard already, have you?"

It was fine the whole one week I was there, but if I ever lived there, I think I'd go insane. Chicago, though *g*

Oh God, Chicago... *sigh*

You must return to London. You must. There needs to be tea and cake and visits to the British Museum.

Before the meet up was proposed I was already idly contemplating it with the same dreaminess one has after sleeping with someone once and saying farewell, but secretly wanting to go back for more XD That, compounded on the fact that I have had British Friends visit and stay with me in the US and go on insane roadtrips, so turnabout is fair play.

The British Museum is a must, as I did not get to go there before. Tea is good, cake is better, and can if I find any dorky tourist stuff that I somehow think is a good idea to buy, you can gently take it away from me and whack me on the nose.

Deal.

Unless it's a really great great coat, yes?

The greatest of coats only

The commuter rail to Boston from Providence is like $8, and if I want to go fancy and quicker I take Amtrak for either $13 and up, depending on the time of day.

I wish I paid $0.50 for a cross-country trip. I'd go visit my sister in Idaho and make a side trip to Vancouver. Which, y'know, would cost $2.00 Canadian. ;)

Hehe. When we went to Chicago we were astonished that a train from the airport cost $2. At the time, the exchange rate was £1:$2.20.

In the UK, the same distance would have cost about £8-10.
