That is a lovely tattoo. I've always refrained from those things as well - a lifestyle choice suggested by religion as I was young, but more by personal choice as I've aged. I've watched my brother drink until he's so sick he has no idea what he's doing and ends up puking or peeing himself. I don't understand the appeal of that. I've tried stuff and am grateful that I don't enjoy the taste.
