There's the same amount of shit on my flist, but I'm not subscribed to anything fandom but like, four things, and I don't have many friends. Especially very many prolific ones.
That being said, I have been so anxious and moody and obsessive lately that I've been checking every place I go on the internet about a thousand times a day and I've not really noticed things not being posted as much.
All the short edits have gone to Twitter, and it turns out that most people aren't essayists.
Which means there's good news and bad news.
The good news is that my internal editor died when I was 22, so I can write everyone's essays for them. The bad news is pretty much the same as the good news.

on 2009-05-18 11:51 am (UTC)It turns out that the real purpose of Facebook was to harvest all the shite memes in the world.
All those time-wasting quizzes and "five songs you like" sort of memes have moved to Facebook.
Actually, I've even seen them on Twitter - just very short ones. Things like #3goodwords (I think that was it), where the hashtag identifies the meme.
I think if LJ is quiet, it's a combination of short edits going to Twitter (as previously mentioned) and memes going elsewhere.
As someone who was never all that fussed about the memes, I kind of like it. :-)
