So, someone on the FOBRock board asked fans to say what they really thought of Pete.

A lot of people were saying, "he's such a talented write and so hot" and the general mundanities that you can expect there, and I started writing my own, and ended up with... well. A bit of an essay:



I think he's kind of fragile, but likes to hide it behind a screen of emo cliche to make it sellable rather than sad. Like he's double-bluffing us all the time. He's miserable because of shit that happens - but he plays the emo card so we think it's put on - but really, he's genuinely quite sad.

I think he's quite a lonely person, even with the guys around, and has an internalised desire for approval and validation. He really needs to find his soulmate, and in the meantime, he's clinging to Patrick to fill the gap.

Not to say they aren't genuinely super, super close - just that the other half of him is out there, but in the meantime he's filling the gap with Trick. I have the overwhelming feeling that Patrick's straight, but that if he wasn't (or maybe, if he was a chick), Pete would genuinely want to marry him just because who wouldn't want to marry the only person who understands them?

I kind of wish it could happen, for Pete's sake.

He reminds me a lot of me, in that he speaks and acts first, and then thinks 'Oh fuck' when it bites him in the arse, but never learns from it. I also think a lot of the resilience is an act and that the things that happen and what is said about him get to him more than we'd ever know.

I also don't think he's a very secretive person and the only reason he isn't even more open with us about the things that are going on is that it could get blown out of all proportion in the tabloids. You have to be a naturally open person to write like he does, both in lyrical form and in his blogs.

I bet this guy has several planets in Sagittarius - including Mercury (although I can also see that being in Pisces). (Check out
Astro.com for what I'm talking about).

On a more superficial level, I think he's one good looking guy. But I go for people built and toned like Patrick, so I'll never be attracted to him.

I'd love to be his friend, though.




Something I was also discussing with ashe_frost is the fact that there's a weird, almost sibling-y similarity in Pete and I. Aside from sharing a love of the fantastical and childish (Harry Potter, The Lost Boys), and being fiercely protective of our friends and the underdog we... well. We look a bit a like. Not like the same person, but like it wouldn't be unbelievable if someone told you we were brother and sister.

I'm not as hot as Pete, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that - but we have a very similar skin tone, eye colour and hair. I've had my hair short before, so it's not even that I've copied him (although he did remind me how much I like short hair).

I'm trying to find half-decent pictures to illustrate it, but it's suprisingly difficult to find a clear one. I'll make a point of doint a Pete pic tomorrow, copying one of him, so you can see what I mean.

Either way - Ashe said she noticed it before I mentioned it, so it's not just me.

It could be something to do with that whole palmist line of thought that your features dictate your personality in various ways. They reckon they can even read arses, now. I dunno.

I just know that actually thinking about it and looking back over incidents I've heard of about Pete, and the things he writes, we do have a lot in common.

We'd probably be best friends or totally fucking hate each other in real life.
