Well, we definitely have pit tickets.

On the other hand, call me ungrateful, but I'm pretty disappointed that we don't even get the early entry tickets or any chance to meet the band. At all. Not even at the Meet & Greet.

What is the point of sending us all that way, even if it is in a nice hotel, if we only really get the same benefits as we would buying the tickets ourselves (which we seriously considered doing if we didn't win). I'm an Overcast Kid - I could have been entered for a Meet & Greet draw if I'd known.

It's actually kind of gutting. Especially considering the fact that there is now a competition - exclusively for US fans - to meet the band. How much hardship would it have been to just give us ten minutes or Meet & Greet passes?

Back when I was still getting girls' magazines and things, competitions would always be, "Go and see Boyzone - you'll meet the boys and get a free t-shirt and loads of signed stuff!"

:(

I don't think it's our contact's fault - she was really nice and is going to pass on our thanks to the band for picking us, but I can't help but feel a bit short changed after all the effort we made to get into the top ten.

OMG! That really fucking blows. I totally agree on the pointlessness of it all.

How hard would it be to have you added to the guest list for fuck sake? I managed that for Westlife on my own, without contacts...sheesh.

I know. And I know that, yeah, they spent £2000 on accommodation and getting us there, but I would have rather they put us in a B&B and just let us have Meet & Greet passes or something.

It all feels a bit redundant, really.

It's madness, that's what it is. I mean srsly, who gives a shit about staying in a posh hotel if you are going all that way and ain't gonna get to meet the band?

My best times touring were staying in cheap hotels and youth hostels - I found that the hotel thing got old quickly. As long as I got to the shows and met the lads, I was happy.

I'm really disappointed and like you, it really makes me wonder what all the effort was for.

I'm sorry that the whole thing has ended with this kind of disappointment. *hugs*

*hugs back*

Thanks, hon. I mean - we've arranged to meet up with Holy Roman Empire and interview them, and I'm still getting my tattoos and seeing both [livejournal.com profile] musictomylips and [livejournal.com profile] pyraterose, but just... meh.

I've met Patrick before, and he's lovely, but there's only ever a couple of minutes to speak to him. I've never properly met any of the others, and I really wanted to meet Joe and tell Andy that he inspired me to start drum lessons.

I know Lib would have loved to meet Pete, as well, and I would just have liked to give the kid a hug.

I'm sure that if we can get into any afterparty (which are usually open events) most of them will be there, but it's not the same going up to someone in a club as being given a few minutes to just chat, you know?

Plus: Patrick doesn't generally go.

Yeah, I totally know. The degrees to which I met the lads in WL is totally different, and I'm sure that if I met some of them in different circumstances, I might have a different opinion of them now. After show parties are good for meeting band members, but you don't get long since people are always vying for the attention.

It's nice that your contact is passing on your thanks, but it would have took just one call to make it possible to do that yourselves...and everything else you've said here.

I don't think you're ungrateful at ALL. I seriously expected this to be backstage meetings, free merch, etc etc... Especially since it was in conjunction with MTV, so I'm pretty surprised that it's sort of bare bones? At least you're making the most of it!

Well, I was trying not to get my hopes up, but if I'm honest - I did, too.

:( I'm sorry. We can just hang out after the show and hope they come out to meet people. After all, it is their hometown. I'm just excited that my mom is letting me go! :D I can't wait to see you there!

Well, there are still perks like meeting you and Rosie, and seeing HRE, but still. :(

at the show in MN we just hung out by the curtain that went into the backstage and this lady tried to rush us in with the M&G kids. Unfortunately, we were like "Oh, no, we don't have meet and greet" when we could have totally gotten away with it. I is stoopid.

That's such bullshit. The point of winning a contest is to get more than the average person who got tickets to see the show.

[hug]

I'm sorry.

I can't even believe I'm going to say this but the boy's management needs to take a lesson from pop bands. When you when a contest for NSYNC, you freakin' meet them and got priority seating.

Not that you should do anything to "get stuff" but, for fuck's sake, it's a contest! You should at least get to meet them!

Thanks hon.

I mean - it's not that I don't appreciate the posh hotel and the fact they're flying us there at all, but it's a bit like giving someone a lift a hundred miles and then making them walk, ten from home.

I'd make a post on OCK perhaps. Maybe someone on there will see the irony of the situation.

I don't think they would if you write it as a WTF kind of thing.. make it more that you're bemused by it as opposed to begging.

I mean, it is silly £2000 and no meet and greet.

I would be sort of crushed. You won a contest! It should be more than something I could stand in line and pay for. I wonder if the boys have been told anything about this. I think that they'd see it as a tad ridiculous as well. Plus, I remember being able to get backstage passes to the Backstreet Boys from my scholastic book orders. Would Fall Out Boy want to be beaten by the Backstreet Boys? I think Pete would rather stab himself.

You should drop by Connecticut and see me on your way home. I'll dress up like Patrick for you. :)

Hahaha. I wish I could, hon.

By the way, chapter 5 is done. Waiting for beta.
