Saturday, 9 June 2007 07:51 amChicago is fucking awesome.
The hotel is frighteningly cool. We have a view of the lake. We've been up since 5.30am and left for breakfast at 7am.
Yesterday we walked about six miles along the banks of the lake, along the beach and lake wall and all the way up to get my tattoos. The tattoos themselves are awesome. Jay is such sweet girl - she gave me a free vest top and took pictures of my tattoos for her collection. They haven't even scabbed up, yet. I hope they heal better than the stars did. She was kind of freaked out when she saw that one, but I think it'll be fine after I have it touched up.
We're planning on finding a Hot Topic today, before we meet up with
musictoyourlips. We have teensy presents for the people we're meeting - including a tiny one for HRE. We bought a packet of five crown jewel chocolates, so they all get a crown each! Haha.
I just can't believe the place. It's so pretty - really, really like Vancouver on growth hormones. The lake is so beautiful - I never really expected it to be this huge and I can't quite comprehends that the water is a lake, rather than an ocean. You can't see the other side, even from our hotel room on the 12th floor.
Across the road from us is Navy Pier which looks lovely at night, with all the lights on (in Chicaaaaaaaaaaaaaagoooooo...)
There is a bit of a problem in that our tickets haven't arrived, yet. We emailed Leanne, and I just texted her to let her know. We're trying not to panic, and just assuming that they'll put us on the guest list or something if they can't get them here in time.
I swear, they'd better make sure we do get them, though, or there's going to be hell to pay.
But yeah, we love this place. It is absolutely beautiful. I kind of want to live here, too, now. Not that they'll have me unless I marry someone... so. I think I'd better go start stalking Patrick, really...

on 2007-06-09 07:02 pm (UTC)I think it had a lot to do with the lake, for me. I also couldn't comprehend that it wasn't the ocean (almost as much as I couldn't comprehend that where I was kayaking the other day was). I know that I will always need to live near the water, and Lake Michigan really felt enough like the sea to satisfy me.
Have fun, dude. You'll love that place even more than you do right now by the time you go home.
