Oh God.

Thanks for ruining one of the few songs I liked on the new album, geniuses.

Yeah, everyone looks cute, but that song deserved way, way better than that bollocks.

I liked it *shrugs* I of course love their over-the-top videos more, but it looked like the genuinely had fun making this one, and the concept was kinda cute.

Except the cat women. I could have done without them.

I'm glad they enjoyed making it. I also think the concept itself was okay and that they could have pulled it off on a low budget - but the execution was really lame.

I also don't think it's anywhere near the standard this song deserved.

Eh, like I said, I don't think it's the best, but it's not horrible. I do think the whole 'sell out' part was kinda lame, though, with pop-up words on the screen. As far as low-budget music videos go, I wasn't nearly as disappointed as I was with Panic! At the Disco's "Build God, Then We'll Talk" video.

As for the song, the idea might've worked better with a different one for sure, but I've given up any notions of music videos actually doing songs justice a long time ago (and this is for any band out there, not just FOB).

At least Build God had a half-comprehensible plot.

With a band like Fall Out Boy, who generally put a lot of effort into their videos, this one just sucks for me. I know not everyone shares that opinion, but I'm kind of disappointed that this was the song they chose to fuck over with such a half-hearted video.

From Pete's post, even he seems a bit unsure about it.

Yeah, but Pete seems unsure of *everything*. He's both "I don't give a fuck" and "wait, wait, yes I do!".

Okay, putting it more bluntly, he sounds embarrassed, to me.

I know that when I draw or write something I think is sub-par I make excuses and try to validate it some way.

That's how his FOBR blog reads to me.

Well, if he is, he shouldn't be, IMO. I like it. :D

I'll just never stop praising all the gods that Humm Hallelujah will never be a single.

Yeah, there is that.

I swear, if they screw up Fame < Infamy I will kill someone.

Is that the next single?

I hope not. I suspect it'll be Me & You.

Heh, I guess I'm just one of those people that was only mildly entertained by Build God. I'd rather watch a dog dream than a random blonde chick dry-hump the air, but that's just me :-p

I also understand your POV because you said it was one of your favorite songs off the new album; I think the Thnks fr th Mmrs video was awesome, but even at that I would have preferred it not gone to video at all and gotten so overplayed mainstream-wise because it was my favorite song for a long time. I'm just really glad they'll never do a vid for Hum Hallelujah.

And I do think if they were going to make a video just to tide us over though, they need to be sure about it. Pete seems to be making excuses like he's so afraid of what everyone will think, so he keeps reiterating that it was a "one day shoot" and "low budget" and a "last minute concept." Be proud of what you do or the fans won't be either, you know?

It seems most people are happy to squee over it, and that's cool. At least the guys had fun doing it and pleased most people.

But I feel like this video is just completely the wrong tone for the track. With the same budget and some tweaking, this could all have been so much better. This track could have been huge, because it's so enormously catchy and pretty different to most of what is out and what they've done before... but the video just lets it down.

For the record, I found Build God utterly disturbing, but I understood what they were going for and it kind of made sense.

They seem to be releasing all the songs I liked on the album.

That was a bit strange though. I would have liked it better had it just been a performance only video.

Exactly. It could have been much better as primarily performance with, maybe, some of the headlines or something on a screen behind them or something.

like the video, hate the cat-women. But that should have been the video for another song, this song really did deserve much better. i mean, just. yeah. i just said everything you just said, but yeah.

XD I'm so glad you agree. I'm actually writing up a version I think would have gone with it much better.
