Now, Pete Wentz. I slag off the guy a lot. I do, and I know that.

But fucking hell. I am SO. SICK. AND. TIRED. of people slagging off him and Ashlee and wishing that he was still an emotional wreck.

In particular, truefobinglove has an article about how he's grown up, he's not on the meds anymore, and how he has changed as a person. And the first comment?

She then goes on to try to defend her position, and fails with:

Because 'telling' the guy to shut the fuck up because he happens to talk about his actual life as it is now, rather than how it was three years ago, in an interview is the epitome of tact and diplomacy.

You know what? Hating the fact that - for what seems like the first time in his life - the guy is to some extent ACTUALLY HAPPY, is unimaginably pathetic. Hating the fact that in interviews he gets asked about Ashlee, instead of about Jeanae, is a waste of energy and without any comprehension or foresight whatsoever. If they go ahead with this marriage, and it sounds like they will, you will be hearing about it for a long time to come. It will be a big part of what their future lyrics will be about, you can be pretty sure of that. So the best idea, right now, is to just fucking accept it - or go and listen to Panic at the Disco. Ashlee, in her relationship with Pete, seems to have done nothing at all to make the fans believe that she is going to hurt, demean or in anyway have a detrimental effect on his wellbeing. Yes, together they may be a publicity machine, and no, I don't much like that either, but I am SO. FUCKING. TIRED. of people having to find fault and feeling that it's their right and their place to drive some imaginary wedge between them.

The greatest irony is that the same person who will bitch incessantly about Ashlee is the same person who insisted on defending Patrick's girlfriend when she did actually do something humiliating and childish (interrupting him, trying to get him off the phone and loudly announcing they were 'leaving, now' DURING A RADIO INTERVIEW THAT WAS POSTED ONLINE BY THE STATION!).

How about you guys who feel such a sense of authority and entitlement over Pete's relationship STFU, instead of telling Pete to because a journalist asks him about his life in an interview?

The day she humiliates him in public you might have some foundation for it, but until then, just stop, for the love of fuck. Either accept who he is now and who he's with, or move on; either ignore the article and don't comment, or read it and deal with the content.

I agree with this. I haven't read the article yet, but I don't mind to hear about his relationship with Ashlee, I pretty much expect it at this point, no getting around it. I think they're good together, because he does seem happier and it actually shows.
And it really irritates me when people say, "I miss the old Pete." Why would you wish unhappiness on someone? How is that helpful? A friend of mine actually said, "I don't think FOB's new record will be good, because it'll be too happy." I was floored.

I don't know what to say about Patrick's girlfriend. I mean, she was just plain rude during that interview, but other than that, I know nothing about her. She gives me a bit of a bad vibe, to be honest, which really sucks.

Yeah - Nerysa and I are just discussing it. It's funny how many people have said lately that she gives them a bad vibe - even before this radio thing.

And the weird thing is, everyone really wants Patrick to be happy - most people were really excited for him when she first appeared - but as time goes on the more sceptical people become.

I'm just really sick of fans thinking these guys are Sims or something.

It's so great to see he's happy, but from a musical standpoint we'll probably never get lyrics like TTYG again. Granted, this may or may not be an amazing revolution/growth in the band but it's like, these things happen. People should be allowed to grow up and live their lives.

But yeah. The band is going to keep changing as they grow up more and we just have to get used to that or get used to the idea of drifting away from them. If what Joe has said about the new album is true, then it's probably going to be awesome - even if the lyrics aren't all, "OMG I HATE U DIAF BIATCH!!11!!"

*sigh* He's Mr. Hollywood now. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Ashlee ended up following in her sister's relationship footsteps. It would be sweet to see in this day and age stay together and have a stable family.
Haha, it's just back in those days I 'fell in love' with the band because I could relate to those kind of lyrics. I just pray there aren't too many "I LUV MAH BB" type of songs.

That is exactly why I hate this celebrity culture/worship thing we've got going on now a days. We do not own these people, just because we buy their albums. If they want to make country records and marry a 50 year old woman, they can do that. We don't have to like it, we don't have to buy their albums, but really?

I totally agree, dude. I refuse to follow the gossip and shit on websites like Perez. But on the other hand, when I can't help feeling Patrick's girlfriend has less than pure motives, I feel protective of him.

It's a fine line with this fandom, because the boys in it interact with us so much, but some people's behaviour is downright unacceptable.

It's not like I expect people to like her - I don't, particularly because I can't respect someone who moulds themselves to their boyfriend's image - but people act as if he should have stayed in a mutually destructive relationship just so he'd keep writing angsty lyrics and incoherent blogs.

Seriously. Like, Pete's a GROWN MAN -- almost thirty -- why do you want him to act like a pissy teenager for the rest of his life? He had problems and he worked through them. If anything, the people who were comforted by that should be inspired to sort their own issues out.

And from a fan's viewpoint, I think this whole new phase in his life should be really interesting musically. I'm totally looking forward to a new album, whenever that comes.

I will always admire Pete Wentz for no other reason than he was laying the foundation for the empire he has today, while being seriously ill. None of these girls who "miss old Pete" actually appreciate what it's like to feel so outside yourself and deal with that level of self loathing every moment of every day. Yeah he wrote some emo poetry/blogs alluding to it, but then he put on his damn happy face and hugged all his fans and played rockin shows and did his job. As transparent as he seems, we will never know the half of that past and the journey it took to get him here today. Such strength wither or not he realizes it. If Ashlee adds to that, then good for him for finding an awesome support system.

(I am a sort of nontraditional pwentz fangirl...I don't care about him/his happiness/life but have huge amount of respect for what he's done for himself and hate people who call for depressed!pete or insist that now he's a sell out)
