it is a little theatrical, but the sentiment is real, & i find it really touching that someone who doesn't have, he says, a personal connection to the gay rights movement, can still feel so strongly against injustice. because that's what it is, pure & simple.

I think we've seen a lot of that, though, really - the guy from Harold and Kumar made a similar statement. The people making the biggest donations have been largely straight.

It's just really good to see everyone coming down on our side.

This is off topic and I looked to see if you posted anything, but how did the job interview go? You had it right?

I didn't get it. I found out this afternoon.

They want to create a job for me which is more money than the one I applied for because they liked me a lot and don't want to lose a potentially good employee, but they need to clear it with the Finance Director. No idea how long that will take, or if he'll approve it, but she was talking in the interview about how they need to expand rapidly...

But in the meantime I'm broke.

aww, Im sorry hon. But my Mom always says that just means something better is coming. And it sounds like there is! Ill keep my fingers crossed for ya.
And as far as being broke, Im right there with ya. I just sold my car on saturday and the money is already gone cause I owed everyone and there mother money. It sucks, but things will get better. At least we have LJ and FOB, right??!!

I really hope it's coming... If they do give me this job I could end up earning more here than I was in London. Up to £3k more than I was on in London.

It could be a few days, it could be a few weeks - and we really don't know any more than that. The salary band is £20-25k, where as the previous role I was going for as £18-20k. I was on £22k in London.

But this is all assuming I get it.

It's great to just sit here and finally have someone that voices all my thoughts and all my sentiments on the matter in such a concise, powerful manner. Finally, someone approaches it on the human level rather than any religious or political bs.

That's the feeling pretty much every time he does one of his Special Comments--it's Keith Olbermann, btw. Rather than reporting the news, he usually does commentary (like this vid) from the OMGWTF? corner of the political spectrum. His MO is just to call bullshit on both sides of US politics, and since the Republicans do the most crazy shit, he goes on the offensive and is regularly demonized by the conservatives for never going after liberals (which is SO not true; during the primaries he railed against Hillary Clinton for basically saying she didn't want to drop out of the race because Obama might get assassinated).

A fav quote: "I'm not a liberal, I'm right." Yes, he can be a bit narcissistic, but his heart is in the right place :-)
