The world is SO FULL OF CRAZY.

Once again, one of the communities I am a member of has turned up what appears to be a complete crazy person.

This is of the scale of that guy on the London Pagan scene who thought he was a God.

You should really see the first post, and all the comments following. And then the two additional posts trying to hold pity-parties, an introduction post, and now some more rambling, which I think is supposed to be some sort of Native wisdom.

Troll, crazy, and if that's her in her icon, suspiciously aryan-looking for someone who claims to be Cherokee.

She mentions in one raving and hostile comment that she's trying to get over the death of her son, or something. I suspect that the child's death, which would be very sad whichever way you look at it, has pushed her over the edge. I certainly wouldn't want to be a child being raised by that sort of crazy.

People have been trying to point her in the right direction, but she just isn't going...

Some people... This is the biggest con of the internet: crazy people.

The thing about being American and white is that everyone is "Part Cherokee". I think my Grandmother's stepfather was Native American.. Clearly nothing to do with her actual father, or I would not be this fucking pale. My cousin's dad's side got some sort of Native American running heavily through it, though. People don't think she's white. I don't think it's "Cherokee" though. People just say "Cherokee" because it's the only thing they can think of. I'm not actually sure the Cherokee were actually in Kentucky. I think it was Apatchee, which is where Appalachia came from?

Also: Lady= batshit insane. Sad about the kid, though.

I think the kid dying caused her to crack up. She's banging on about Jesus and God and the spiritual path of the Native people (because, y'know - Jesus was born Memphis...) and seems to be clamouring for any sort of proof that there is life after death and hedging her bets with just about everything.

It's like post-traumatic stress or something.

And obnoxious PTS at that.

I had a nice comment going until ElJay ate it fucking thing. SO here is a quick summery.

o Maybe she did have a son who died and is trying to find spiritual meaning and turned to her (dubious) native blood.
o I don't doubt that possibly way back she has native blood in her but that's like me saying I'm full Swedish because my great grandfather was was Swedish.
o She does look suspiciously Aryan, like she's from Germany. And her eyes aren't right. Indians can tell who other Indians are by their eyes. ;)

Hi...I wanted drop in and say hello from the uh..now crazed _nativeamerican community, and perhaps add you as a friend, since well...you do seem to have a modicum of sanity, and an icon for every snark.

Haha - thank you. I'm quite fond of my icon collection.

I was going to come to your LJ and leave a comment saying, "Phew - crazy, much?" but I thought it would be a bit over the mark... I shall add you back!

I've just joined the original community, which apparently allows censorship, because sometimes, you really do need a moderator.

I'm just incredulous the moderator is essentially taking the stance to allow trolling.

I know. From her comment, it sounds like she was kicked out for trolling, so I'm going there instead!

Its not even a full moon yet...

Hi there - I found you over at the place with crazy troll and I also belong to the 'nativeamerican'community (though I just made my first post). All of your points are exactly what I was thinking - I actually replied to your comment to the Moderator: I have seen one too many great communities brought down by obvious trolls and flat out lunatics. No one should have had to put up with that - and especially the insults and baseless jugements being thrown around. There is no dancing around what was going on... This why I left other groups and its the reason why Im left that one after being there all of a nanosecond.

Hey!

Yeah, I was going to leave you a comment myself in a minute... I'm just appalled that the mod refuses to distinguish between free speech and crazy trolling... It's absolutely insane. You have to have some standards or the whole game goes under!

I've left that community myself, now - I'm trying out the new one where you saw my other post. Hopefully people there will be less crazy. :)

I'll add you as a friend, if that's okay?

I'm just on the edge of Wood Green, myself.

Which charity were you looking at? I'm friends with Brenda of Lakota Aid - she's been doing such hard work for so long, but stopped taking donations because she was getting so little.

Ah, yeah - I've already given some money to the propane fund, a couple of weeks ago. I have a bunch of links to Lakota sites in my email sig, and that's one of the sites listed...

I just wish I'd helped more before Brenda gave up.

Its really hard trying to set up a charity and keep it going. Thats one thing I still really want to do myself. I have things that Ive done - but on such a small scale. Getting people to part with their money or throw their name behind it isnt easy...

Yeah... I work for St. John Ambulance - we've been around in one form or other for 900 years and we aren't as well supported as you'd think...

Can you believe that crazy is still posting on the comm?

I'm just gobsmacked...

That's a troll for you... not that you can tell the Moderator that. Ive deleted my post notifications so I dont have to put with that...

If that little community was dead then the trolls will really kill it...

Yeah... I left altogether, already, and I noticed a few other people had said they're considering doing the same.

It's a pity, because freedom of speech is important, but there's a time when you need to draw a line.

Indeed.

Let's hope the new one is a happier place!

Considering how much this person has crossed it... But Ive seen that and worse be allowed elsewhere. Theres a price to pay for it - as you rightly said, anyone who is serious just wont stick around.

Even if the person's story turned out to be true - that forum is not the place for the roads she's gone down no matter what she thinks or how justified she feels. And the way she has gone about it all... they can have it.
