now... don't quote me on this, but it's pretty similar for all of Illinois, so I am assuming it's the same for Chicago (I don't get to go clubbing up there often). a lot of the 'club' clubs will be 21+ (one of the unfortunate things about illinois). smaller bars or places that aren't listed as clubs, usually don't have an age restriction to get in, or if they do, it will be something like 'no one under 21 after midnight' or something of the sort. this is mostly for places that serve some sort of food, cause they are co-listed as restaurants or something of the sort. some places won't start checking ID's at the door after a certain time anyways. even though i don't live in Chicago, i'm assuming their bar/club laws are similar to where i live, from the times i've had a chance to go out there.
since it's for an aftershow, i can't see that they would pick a club for 21+ only, just because of the general age crowd for people attending the concert. if you can find out before hand where they are going, definitely give the place a call. i hope everything works out well!
Depends. If it's strictly a bar, it's probably gonna be 21+. If it's a club or any kind of venue where live music is played, it might be 18+. Some places are all ages and use wristbands or stamps to designate those who have produced ID and are cleared to order from the bar. Calling ahead is probably your best bet, but I'd cross your fingers and hope for 18+.
You guys have to hit the Museum of Science and Industry. It's on Lake Shore Drive, and it's the coolest museum ever. If you don't go to the Sears Tower, or eat at Gino's East (best pizza in the city!), or catch a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, you still must go to the Museum of Science and Industry. It's all interactive rather than passive, with a real coal mine underground that you can visit and one of the original space capsules that went into space in the early 60s. They used to have this walk-through model of the human heart that was a huge hit with all the grade school field trippers, myself included. Anyway, definitely go if you have any time at all.
