Okay, so I'm putting my mother hen apron, here, but... meh. I kind of find myself growing uneasy with all the drinking.

I mean, people are making a big deal ("So, this is the first awards ceremony you've been drinking at...") and it's not like it's just occasionally. It's like every time we see him, now.

Someone is being a bad influence, I feel.

You know....I wonder about this myself sometimes. (In between shameful squeeing over how cute I think tipsy Patrick might be. I'm SUPPOSED to be edge, damn it. XD)

Do you think maybe it's because Pete has started drinking now?

Personally I don't find Patrick's drinking as off-putting, probably becuase he doesn't get like, so trashed he can't function.

This is kind of a depressing thing to ponder. D:

I blame Ashlee. And while I think it's endearingly cute, it could just be an experimentation phase he's going through. I went through the same thing in my early 20s.

You blame Ashlee? What, through Pete?

I suspect it's Pete and Travie being around ALL THE TIME at the moment.

I saw Travie get through three quarters of a litre of neat vodka during the GCH set at Decaydance.

Yeah, mainly. And because i don't like her :P I mean, she slips booze into Pete's water bottles. That's just insane.

I don't get everyone's concern - they're all grown-ups, they can drink if they choose, they can drink alot if they choose. My friends and I are huge drinkers as well and we're all fine.

Yeah, but does everyone else around you think that?

She slips booze into his water? WTF?

She gave him champagne in a Perrier bottle.

Think what, that we're fine? Um, I dont' really care what the people around me who I don't know think of me or my friends. These guys have every right to indulge in whatever floats their respective boats. No one is doing blow off a hooker's ass, I think they're okay.

I don't have a problem with it, I used to be the same way. As long as the drinking doesn't become more than a social thing and he doesn't become a mess on stage when he's performing (slurring, forgetting words, forgetting how to play), then more power to him.

I wasn't talking about people who don't know you. But it's exactly that attitude that causes problems. People who drink a lot hate being criticised for it, even though they know it's harmful and frankly, pretty immature.

Just note that none of them were 'big drinkers' - even Joe - until very recently. Suddenly, every time we see him, Patrick is trolleyed. It bothers me because I care; I can't physically stop him - but if I was a close enough friend, I'd definitely be keeping an eye on him after this rapid change of attitude. Especially when Pete is getting champagne smuggled to him in Perrier bottles and Travie is passed out drunk before the doors even opened (I was there, that actually happened).

To be perfectly honest, I'm tired of your attitude. It's as if you always think you know best and like to pretend to 'rise above' things by patronising everyone who shows any concern or acts as though the band's welfare genuinely matters to them.

I don't have time for that or people who brag about drinking. Sorry.

For example of this see: Travie.

And while I frown upon any drinking, to an extent, I don't like to see the guy publicly off his tits several times in a couple of weeks when he's been almost completely edge since he was fifteen.

Holy crap!

I mean.. I snuck in beer to V in a camelbak and magners in my backpack, but that's just 'cos we were poor and wanted to save money. Not trying to actually HIDE the drinking!

Dude, motive is everything: that one makes perfect sense.

That's understandable, totally. If he no longer wants to be edge, I respect that, people change. But my social drinking escalated into a really bad habit and I was a mean, obnoxious drunk (I'm still banned from many places in Toronto) when I got shitfaced every night. Now I know my limits and I rarely drink anyway, mainly because I can't afford it, but I find Patrick drunk amusing and as long as it doesn't become anything more, then I think he'll be okay. Fingers crossed, anyway. And I'm just more concerned about him fucking up his voice than anything else. Because that would be a damn tragedy. :(

Agreed. Smuggling in your own booze is one thing. I fully advocate it. But spiking someone else's drink is NOT COOL. At any age. At any time. It's not funny, it's stupid, it's irresponsible, and Ashlee needs to grow the fuck up.

Im just kind of curious here, not trying to knock anyone. But how do people know a lot of this? Obviously you saw Travie, but the Ashlee and champagne thing? And someone down there said Joe is drinking heavily. ANd as much as I enjoyed seing Patrick "drunk" for someone who has gone from not drinking at all I dont think it would take that much. Maybe it was more of an accident? IDK, mainly the point of this is wondering how people know all this stuff?
