So, Fall Out Boy have booked three arena dates in the UK in October.

In all honesty, I think it might be a bit excessive. Last time they came, they played much, much smaller venues like Hammersmith Apollo, which is really only a couple of thousand.

They would have been much better off playing several shows that size around the country, because a lot of the fans simply aren't going to be able to make London, Birmingham or... Manchester, is it? I dunno. I only know Wembley and the NEC.

Worse, the shows are on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Kids will be at school, grown-ups will have work either on the day, or the day after (unless that's half term, I guess).

Ages ago, I promised to take my cousin, Jasmine, to their next show with a friend. It's going to be pretty hard to arrange, because we'll be in Brighton and we'd have to take at least two days off work to get up to the London show and get home again (it'd either be so late we wouldn't get any sleep, or we'd need to sleep at my aunt and uncle's house).

It's going to be a bit of a nightmare to arrange.

It's doable - but really only if we have understanding bosses at our new jobs.

The other date is SECC - which is in Glasgow.

I'm not a huge fan of massive arenas like those. The best gigs I saw when I lived in the Midlands were at NIA Academy or Wolves Civic. Similarly, while the facilities are nice, I really wasn't massively impressed by The O2 either. I suspect the gigs at indigO2 are better.

I guess it's lucky that they picked Wembley, not the O2 because it's closer to where my cousin lives.

I've a feeling we might not make this show, though. There's no point going unless you can get a good vantage point, which means getting there stupidly early and taking a day off work.

It might actually be more sensible for us to go to Birmingham on the Sunday and drive back that night, then we'd only have to take one day off work. What a nightmare. Plus, the kids will probably have school.

Not only that, Wembley is easier to get away from. The O2 is an absolute fucker to get out of. It takes no time at all for the Tube to be shut down due to overcrowding. I wondered why so many people left a little early when I went to see Chris Rock - now I know why.

You know, I've never been to an arena or concert hall gig that wasn't all-seater. I'm not a big fan of hanging around all day just to stake out a good spot. I've always been pretty lucky with this for outdoor gigs.

You'd be surprised how many people off the south coast go to gigs in Birmingham instead of London, purely because it is a lot easier from a transport point of view - due to the fact that the NEC's train station is an intercity stop. That, and it is an easier drive and the NEC has decent, if slightly extortionate, parking.

I think we might have to do that. I'll have to talk to Julie and my uncle tonight to find out. Dammit. What a nightmare. We already have tickets booked for shows in Southampton and Bristol to see Four Year Strong in November.
