The thing is, forcing these bands on people isn't encoraging people to get into them; often, it just means that your own fans get sick of hearing about them and become more resistent to them.

The early Decaydance bands were genuinely good acts - I count Cobra and TAI amongst some of my favourite current acts - but the newer stuff is less original and come with obnoxious fanbases that nobody wants to have to endure at your shows.

Also, it has to be said: FIVE BANDS is way too many on a bill. Nobody gets a decent length set and your own fans are forced to stand up through acts many of them can't stand in order to enjoy a reduced length set from the band they are actually there for.

I get that these bands are on your label, and you want to promote them, but it's to the detriment of your own fanbase.

for the record, only two of these bands are on my label. two are not.

WE will continue to support our friends and bands that WE think are good and offer something to the bill.

As far as you feel about decaydance is a personal opinion. I wish more people had supported bands like the hushsound but it simply was not the case. i get it, the new stuff is not your cup of tea. thats ok. i never did this label for anyone except myself. i was told not to sign panic at the disco and gym class heroes by everyone i spoke to. there are bands that i feel deserve to be championed and therefor choose to.

i have found that often it is less what the music is but what age or state you are in when the music hits you. i have found this in my own life personally. my tastes change and mature as i grow and bands that i fell in love with, that took me through the most miserable parts of my teenage years wouldnt hit me the same if they came out now. its often nostalgic ears that we listen through.

people have complained when we have had three band bills, people complain that they cant get into the secret smaller shows we do, people complain that venues are too big.

all that i have taken out of this is that we as a culture have our own opinions and we dont mind expressing them.

i appreciate that.

we have toured with nfg, shiny toy guns, midtown, bayside, from first to last... honestly, we tour with bands that we like and sometimes with bands that we hope our fanbase will enjoy.

honestly, if you dont like the tour you should either show up late and just see FOB (if you live in the states), not come to the show at all, or lobby to become our booking agent and book the tours from now on.

didnt mean for this to be brutal but id like for you to know the truth. either way, i am sure people who love our hate certain bands on the tour are able to schedule their lives so they see the ones that they want to see.

take care.

ps "pete" doesnt decide the line-ups for fall out boy. the entire band, our management and our booking agents do. we also do not decide the routing for our tour but when someone makes a suggestion we put that forth to our agents.

not sure how to login to my account here so i wont be replying again as im sure some fakes will begin to do so. if you want i will reply over at the clandestine.buzznet one.

Don't get me wrong - I adore Four Year Strong enough to have their lyrics tattooed on my back; and I appreciate you pushing them (even if, in contrast, it has been on a minor scale compared to bands like Hey Monday) because I probably wouldn't have discovered them, otherwise. I love those dudes and they were a great find. I don't think you've lost the knack for finding good bands, I just don't think that the new stuff is as always stand out and individual as the bands you signed in the past.

I also love Cobra, as I said in my original post - but I stand by the opinion that five is too many on a bill. People won't come late and miss those bands, because they want to be as close to the front as possible for your own set (and for any bands higher on the bill - such as Cobra - that they do like). I know you're aware that people will sleep outside your shows, even when they don't need to - and that's why. To make sure they can be on the barrier for your set.

The people who complain about three-band bills probably don't go to many shows. Haha.

Personally, I didn't see your response as brutal at all, and I appreciate your taking the time to do so, but I don't like bands based on what I liked in the past. I may listen to your stuff through "nostalgic ears" but I like new bands based on their own merit. Cobra are like nothing I've ever listened to before now, and so are FYS. I'm not the biggest fan of GCH, but I do think they stand out as a band and I would have disagreed with the detractors when you had them.

The 'first round' of Dd bands, shall we say, were really distinctive, and that's what made them so good and probably what gave them such fanbases.

With the more recent bands, I'd find it hard to pull them out of an audio line-up, and that's kind of sad.

For the record, I'd love to be your booking agent. How much will you pay me? I need a job right now. ;)

Why isn't this the Pete the media paints as Pete?

Also, to input as someone who is into Rap: Gym Class Heroes was very refreshing to listen to because not only where they their own band (a lot of hip hop is not live instruments), but their lyrics weren't about clubbing, women, and getting laid. They're about..anything Travis wants to rap about (hell, he did one on FOOD). A lot of the stuff that was being signed at the time was liked that and it was all "arg" to the ears. It stood out to rap about something else that wasn't "bitches and money."

What FYS lyrics did you get tattooed, if you don't mind my asking?

It's slightly paraphrased, obviously, but here's a pic:

That tattoo is gorgeous! And the rest of the entry, word. Five bands billing is really too much. And if I were going for it (if I could), I'd only want to see FOB and CS. Hey Monday, from what little I've heard of their songs, sounds like a lite Paramore.

Thank you! :) I'm glad you like it. It's one of my favourites.

I'm a FOB/CS fan, too - and I mean, I'm all for them taking deserving young bands on Tour, but not three of them, and not bands who really don't need it.

I cannot spell that word, tonight!

Um... in order of when I got them (more or less) I have a red maple leaf on my right wrist, a cluster of red stars non the side of my right inner-elbow, the jumpwings of the 101st Airborne (which is the image in the middle of the banners in the pic), two tattoos on my outer forearms which together read "Thank your luky stars/for the scars and stories", a tiny cartoon of Joe Troh on my left inner wrist and a massive Cobra Starship tattoo on the ball of my right shoulder.

♥_♥ The cartoon Joe Troh!

Heh, hope you don't mind my question. I love it when people ask about my tattoos and reason for it but when they make stupid remarks about it then I get really pissed off.

Yeah, people make a lot of dumb comments about how I'll regret them in ten years - when in fact, in ten years I'll look at them and be reminded of a really fun and adventurous time of my life.

Most of them are here if you want to see some pics.

The Joe tattoo (known generally as Baby Joe) really represents his energy on stage more than anything. Some of my most awesome times in the last couple of years have been watching him fly around on stage, so it's really about loving and enjoying live music. And also just because who else deserves to be a cartoon tattoo really? Haha.

What tattoos do you have?

Exactly! Man, I really love the Trohttoo and the font for the words! And the CS ones!

Two of mine is here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v612/princessadrienne/tattoos.jpg. I have another here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v612/princessadrienne/tattoo.jpg that is the word "Dream" in an ambigram with a little "dream" below it.

Aw, those are really sweet. I love the little cats in the first one. I used to have a black cat at the house where I used to live, but she stayed with my housemates when I moved..

Does it have a meaning?

*G* It symbolizes my 3 cats and my 2 sisters. We are all such animal lovers and I can barely remember a time when we didn't have pets. As for the Scorpio star sign, I'm Scorpio (duh!). And the Dream tattoo is based on one of Edgar Allan Poe's poems. All that we see or seem / Is but a dream within a dream.

My next one I'm planning for is the tree from the Used's album cover on my lower back or awake & unafraid somewhere.

That's lovely. It's always good to see people's tattoos actually mean something. I see so many that people seem to have gotten just for the sake of it, or to copy other people, which is pretty depressing.

Thanks. :) They're pretty amazing and I genuinely adore that band. They're such sweet boys...

But that line really stood out for me - it just felt right to go with my jumpwings as well.

sorry if i'm completely off the mark or late with this but i swear i was reading your exchange(s) with Pete as they happened
And it's quite possible that you already know this so forgive me... but Pete responded again on nohartandsole

I'm going to feel really idiotic if i'm pointing out the obvious, sorry. I must admit i'd been hanging round on buzznet to see what else he had to say in reply

anyway i'd like to say i'm completely on board with your argument.

Hey, it's fine, don't worry. I did just see it and have reposted it on lockdown in my LJ for future reference, as I'm sure it'll be deleted soon.

I replied to him on the Mr Moth post, just saying we were cool as far as I'm concerned.

:)

Thank you for the heads up, though.

Hey, dude - don't know if you're reading, but I got your message.

It's fine, I don't feel like you picked on me; adults can disagree on shit without it needing to be world war three or ending up hating each other. I only tell you what I think because I believe you can take it and probably want people to be real. I don't always agree with the stuff you guys say or do, but I don't expect you to be perfect - I just respond in the same way I would with anyone else who has been in my life for a number of years.

At the end of the day, I'd rather you "singled out" someone who won't go and cry in a corner because they thought Pete Wentz was horrible to them. As far as I'm concerned, we're cool.

And no matter how often I'm that loud noise or how critical you might see me as - whether I like the new album or the new video or not - it comes from a place where I love this band and I want to enjoy every minute; if I didn't, I wouldn't bother saying anything because I wouldn't care.

I'm glad you see the dedication element, because hopefully that means you understand that.

Peace. xoxo

haha, that's why i deleted it. i dunno why he tries to create wank with fans, it just seems to make his case seem weaker.

I don't think Pete was trying to create wank, really - he was defending himself, which is fair enough. I'd do the same.

But ultimately, I think he took the whole thing way less personally than the fans did.

Bitching at or about me is like a sport around here, and I'm fine with that.
