I think it's going to be a super close race (how so many people can still want to vote for McCain? I have no idea), but I do truly believe that Barack is going to win.

It's a pretty awesome thing to believe, too. :)

I want him to win, but I just honestly can't see The Man letting it happen.

Obama will win hands down. Its pointing to that do the fact McCain isn't doing well in recent polls, Fox NEWS is showing Obama is likely to win [have to recheck], not to mention the key issues of:
1) People are sick of the republican party and their hypocrisy that they've been showing.
2) The GOP haven't really set an actual platform that people can follow where as the Dems have one.
3) The recent shift of Republicans to the Liberatian party is causing a third party split [always a killer].

But that's only if you believe that the votes aren't are going to be legit.

I think there's a lot going on behind the scenes, a lot of string pulling, and that the idea of a black dude in the presidential role will be beyond what they're prepared to see.

Obviously, I completely disagree with the notion that a black guy shouldn't win (I'd love to see Obama win), but I still don't think it'll happen.

There's a lot of factors that go into an election, but what's killing the republican party is the third part split. They're kicking themselves in the pants by causing people to switch to that party so even whether or not the votes are legit or not, they're not getting a shit load of support.

Also, as Mike Huckabee pointed out, there's hardly a lot of people seeing Obama's color when it comes to him being a candidate. What they're attacking on and what people are fearful of are the fact he's inexperienced and his middle name is Hussian.

It doesn't seem like that from where we're watching.

If you look at the poll, it's pretty much exclusively Americans who think he'll get in.

Yeah, I agree completely. It only seems to be the Americans voting on this who think that Obama will win.

Maybe we just have too much hope?

But, being in the states and watching the news here and just looking on the streets, Obama has so much support here. It's probably bias becaused I am in California which is notoriously liberal but I really think he can do it. At first, I didn't. But being out here has changed my mind.

I also don't think that if Obama wins he will be assassinated.

I hope I'm wrong. I REALLY hope so. But I can't see him surviving if he's elected. There's just something Bad there, you know?

I have no idea what will happen; I think Obama will probably win on votes, but I don't know whether he'll actually get in or not. I hope he does, but I'm kinda really not sure. If he gets in I get the feeling he'll be assasinated, which is horrible to think, but yeah. Too many people hate the idea of America having a black president.

I think Obama will win but if he lives long enough - say more than two years - to affect real change in the United States, I'll be surprised.

I have faith that enough people have finally turned the corner, even if we have to drag the rest of those who haven't behind us. Whether or not we'll be cheated out of the optimist we need is a matter to be seen.

As a counterpoint for all this doubt and fear that surrounds the election, I do see a nation trying to be progressive and trying to move on and we're being held back by the same type of people wo didn't want women to have a vote, or for blacks to have basic rights. Even if it doesn't happen this election, it's only a matter of time. Unfortunately, if another Republican gets into office, we might not get another chance because the country formerly known as North America might be yet another caricature of itself.

So, I'm optimistic, with a tiny, tiny bit of caution.

I think Obama is better than McCain, but he's not without his faults and I expect some shady stuff to go down around the time of the election. Still, with all the money liberals have invested in Obama's campaign, they're not going to go down without a fight.

"Barack Obama will win, but be assassinated within the first term."

And I'm so scared that it will happen.
