Still have massive knee pain today. To the point where sometimes, while sitting on the floor at the bout (which the Goldie Lookin' Chain Gang won in the last jam by one point - go coach!) I actually had to put my hands under my knee and lift my leg to move it.

I think the other pains in my hip and foot are due to the altered gait as I've been compensating for the pain.

I think I have inflammation of the quadriceps insertion - basically where the muscle joins the patella/kneecap. It doesn't really hurt if my knee is completely folded without pressure from standing or anything, say, if I pull my knee up to my chest while sitting; but that moment when you push up to get up from a chair or step up a step is really painful. Like, actually cry-out painful. This would be why I had to roll off the sofa to get up the other night.

Clearly, I should have bought those knee supports I'd intended to get this month.

The bout was great, though. I was really impressed by Sin D Doll and Jack Attack and it was lovely to see [livejournal.com profile] scoobygang63, briefly - she was doing trackside maintenance for the Rockin' Rollers, which is awesome. I'm so glad she's got into roller derby.

I would have liked to have gone on to the afterparty but Sharon was keen to get home and she was on my Network Railcard, so I had to go with her. Never mind. By the time I did get home and got my pyjamas on, the monitoring station called to say that the intruder alarm had gone off at the office, so [livejournal.com profile] shiny_starlight and I had to get dressed and get a taxi to Hove to investigate and reset it. Nobody had been in - I checked the door system - which is kind of weird.

I'm really glad to be home, though; and super glad I don't have to be at work in the morning. I think I'd about have to kill myself if I did.

Dude, I am so sorry you're in pain, I hope it clears up soon. I have to say, Goldie Lookin' Chain Gang is the best name ever. XD

This is incorrect; my team mate is called Chariot Sophia - that is truly the best name ever. I am eternally jealous.

The pain is par for the course, really. Besides, it gives me something to moan about.

Well, there are leagues all over the place which hold public bouts.

Where do you live?

From Tuesday, Portsmouth. My family keep mocking me, 'cos we're from Southampton and thus Pompey's sworn enemies... XD

Well, that's easy distance from London to see an LRR bout. Their next one is in October. There is also a Portsmouth league now, The Portsmouth Roller Wenches.

Hee, thanks for the link! I'll definitely check it out. Whether I make it to London or not will depend on workload, because I already have Korn booked (for the lols) and the Ninja Tune 20th anniversary gig thing in October.

I had no idea there was one in Portsmouth.

Ever since you've been talking about it I've been thinking about having a go :)

Hehehe! Awesome! You should go for it.

You're in Chi at the moment, though, aren't you?

Thanks, hon. You should come and watch when there's a bout on; my coach's team usually plays at York Hall, so not too far for you to get to.

How are you doing?

*sends healy vibes your way* I've been reliably informed your sofa is quite comfy though, so the knowledge that it's treating you well is a comfort to me :)

And I've never been to a roller derby event before, but it sounds like tons of fun, sans injuries of badness. Is it a big thing in Brighton?

Thanks, hon, my knee is actually feeling much less swollen, today.

I wouldn't say that it's a big thing anywhere in this country - hardly anyone has heard of it. We are getting better known in Brighton, now, because we did Pride, but that's about it so far.
