To all the people who kept telling me that The Breakfast Club was the most awesome film ever.

YOU WERE WRONG.

What a pile of utter bollocks.

Who on earth told you it was awesome? I think it appealed to a very specific set of people who were the characters' ages at teh time the film was released (but not the actors' ages since one of them appears to be about 35 while the little blond one from Weird Science looks about 11

I like it, but I like it because the first time I saw it I was 13. And I loved Allison. I didn't want her to get a makeover, either, but looking back I think maybe it's more metaphorical?

I saw it, but late in my teens. I think it's one of those films that is teh mostawesomemovieeverOMG!!11! if you watched it when you were little and can look back on it with nostalgia.

I saw Flashdance not so long ago with a bunch of people who said much the same things about it. It was okay, and I enjoyed it, but not the way they did.

Familiarity, with movies, seems not to breed contempt. But instead over-inflated ideas of it's fabulousness.

Did you ever see the Dawson's Creek episode where it was the same premise? I saw that in context at the time and it seemed better. God, what that must say about me : /

Dude. Velvet Goldmine is the most awesome movie ever. :) Not that I've ever actually *seen* The Breakfast Club, mind you.

i agree with elethe. i think it's a decent movie, but i don't love it. there are a TON of movies i would rather watch than that.

elethe also made a comment about the movie 'Weird Science.' i LOVE that movie. i think mostly because it's fairly humorous, and even though it's got a somewhat far fetched plot line, it's still pretty amusing. kinda like 'Encino Man.' I love that movie too, cause it's quite funny... though the plot line is pretty damn unbelievable.

i'd rather watch a movie like 'Footloose' than 'the Breakfast Club' any day. i dunno.. i'm kinda odd about my 80's movies :-)

I saw it a couple of years ago and thought it was an okay teen movie. I think you have to see it at the right age.
