I never really noticed how much dairy I eat until now.

Literally, everything except stirfry and pastina has some sort of dairy in it. Oh - and cajun chicken and rice.

It's been two days and I hate it. I don't care if I do turn out to be allergic to dairy products, I can't go through life without cheese!

Things I can't eat at the moment (and wouldn't necessarily eat every day, but still):

  • Pizza
  • Pancakes or crepes (and especially not cheese and spinach crepes)
  • Creamy pasta (like salmon and spinach pasta)
  • Pasta with bacon, tomato and cheese (and no, it doesn't work without cheese)
  • Chicken in white sauce
  • Toast (no butter and nothing tastes right - jam seeps in and Marmite tastes fucking horrendous)
  • Glasses of milk (and I can't have the jam sandwich that would go with it, because I can't have butter on the bread, and as I said: jam seeps in)
  • Yogurts
  • Custard (only included because Julie was talking about it)
  • Lasagne or cheese sauce-topped pastas
  • Cheese on toast
  • Ice cream
  • Cheese and mushroom pasties (which I sometimes have for dinner on Circle nights)
  • Mash and cheese
  • Chocolate (I only eat milk chocolate, or occasionally white chocolate)
  • Popcorn (either served with or cooked in butter)

    Shall I go on?

I actually have a food headache and I'm starving, and I can't cook anything because I threw out all my dairy products and nothing else takes less than half an hour and it's already bloody late.

People who really don't eat dairy: ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?! Or do you just have will of steel?

And don't tell me to try soya: it's the devil's work.

I don't really eat a lot of dairy.. But you think everything I eat is disgusting, so I'm not even going to bother. =)

This made me so hungry. My housemate told me to cut out dairy once to see if it made me feel better - I just laughed in her face!

It's making me hungry as well.

I've only started feeling crap, recently, and I don't really think dairy has anything to do with it.

    Wheat intolerance maybe?

I doubt it. But rather wheat than cheese!

Aw! No need to deprive yourself of gorgeous cheese then! 10 days is a long time to go without if you don't think there is a chance your symptoms are related.

You don't really have to cut out milk from the equation in the dairy products :)
I should know, my dad had to so the same.

Yes, I do. I'm trying to see if I'm allergic to it.

Huh? I thought the main problem *was* milk. Once lactose intolerance has been diagnosed, yoghurt can be eaten, as can lactase treated milk.

The problem is adult mammals are not supposed to drink milk. Lactose intolerance is the norm, rather than the exception.

It's not as bad as that if you are diagnosed as lactose intolerant. It's just so strict because you need to cut out everything dairy to ensure a result. You can eat yoghurt (as it's pre-digested) and you can get treated milk. Although, of course it tastes nothing like normal milk.

Almond milk is a nice substitute for cows milk (and keeps *forever*, well a week at least!) and while I hate soya milk with a fiery passion, soya cheese isn't too bad.

I was never much of a milk fan. The hardest part is avoiding cheese. I decided I'd rather feel a bit crappy and eat it occasionally than avoid it altogether and never eat pizza again!
