This Is Not A Democracy

So, since Pete and Ashlee announced their baby, and FoE posted a poll asking people to guess what the baby would be, some people in fandom have been freaking out about how the mother deserves privacy and how dare they ask this question all the time.

I'm not a mother, but I don't think it's a big deal - what do you think?

Well, it's done and dusted. They're married. (It was Alice in Wonderland themed, which should please xdearlin O_o)

Am I the only one who feels a bit weird. Like on New Year? When suddenly the bells stop chiming and suddenly everything's a bit different, except it's not, really?

I hope they have a good one.

For all Pete pisses me off, most of the time, it'd be nice to see him settle down and figure his shit out. I just hope they're not taking Papa Joe on the honeymoon...

So, I'm watching The Ashlee Simpson Show, purely out of morbid curiosity because I'd never seen it before, and... while I totally support her reasons for the nosejob, and I think it was done very well... She was just so much prettier before. She looked so interesting and natural. It actually somehow highlighted her eyes and balanced her face, all of which seem lost, these days.

She was also slightly chubbier in the face, which she probably partially lost growing up, but it suited her.

But yes. When she was young, she was cute. And she seems like any other young American kid.

Maybe, as weird as it seems for all of us, it's not so hard to imagine or understand why Pete likes her. Personality-wise, she's not really my type, but she seems like a nice kid for the most part. I wish she'd wear enormous hoodies and stuff more, make less of a concerted effort to be pretty and girly. And stop fucking posing, and just be herself.

I think then a lot of people (at least the ones intelligent enough to accept that Pete is marrying her, goddammit) would feel much warmer toward her.

Personally, I've never hated her, because I've never known her - I hate her music, and I hate the fact that she seems to value herself so little that she moulds herself to the images/scenes her boyfriends are into, but I don't know a huge amount about her as a person. And yeah, it really shocked me to think Pete was interested in her, because I just could not figure out how that fitted, but... maybe it's not all that hard actually.


And to be perfectly honest? A couple of years back? I'd have fucked her.

This took place AT THE WHITE HOUSE DINNER. How humiliated must his poor girlfriend be?

Now, Pete Wentz. I slag off the guy a lot. I do, and I know that.

But fucking hell. I am SO. SICK. AND. TIRED. of people slagging off him and Ashlee and wishing that he was still an emotional wreck.

In particular, truefobinglove has an article about how he's grown up, he's not on the meds anymore, and how he has changed as a person. And the first comment?

Because 'telling' the guy to shut the fuck up because he happens to talk about his actual life as it is now, rather than how it was three years ago, in an interview is the epitome of tact and diplomacy.

You know what? Hating the fact that - for what seems like the first time in his life - the guy is to some extent ACTUALLY HAPPY, is unimaginably pathetic. Hating the fact that in interviews he gets asked about Ashlee, instead of about Jeanae, is a waste of energy and without any comprehension or foresight whatsoever. If they go ahead with this marriage, and it sounds like they will, you will be hearing about it for a long time to come. It will be a big part of what their future lyrics will be about, you can be pretty sure of that. So the best idea, right now, is to just fucking accept it - or go and listen to Panic at the Disco. Ashlee, in her relationship with Pete, seems to have done nothing at all to make the fans believe that she is going to hurt, demean or in anyway have a detrimental effect on his wellbeing. Yes, together they may be a publicity machine, and no, I don't much like that either, but I am SO. FUCKING. TIRED. of people having to find fault and feeling that it's their right and their place to drive some imaginary wedge between them.

The greatest irony is that the same person who will bitch incessantly about Ashlee is the same person who insisted on defending Patrick's girlfriend when she did actually do something humiliating and childish (interrupting him, trying to get him off the phone and loudly announcing they were 'leaving, now' DURING A RADIO INTERVIEW THAT WAS POSTED ONLINE BY THE STATION!).

How about you guys who feel such a sense of authority and entitlement over Pete's relationship STFU, instead of telling Pete to because a journalist asks him about his life in an interview?

The day she humiliates him in public you might have some foundation for it, but until then, just stop, for the love of fuck. Either accept who he is now and who he's with, or move on; either ignore the article and don't comment, or read it and deal with the content.
