Uh-oh

Caleb has a heavily locked-down Facebook. He doens't even have his own picture on the profile.

Today, he added a fan - a dude around his own age, from Brazil.

But the thing is, this dude fanboys with the best of them, and talked about it on Tumblr. Now all the fangirls are asking for links to his profile and flailing and trying to get added.

I have already seen one screencap of his profile (nothing massively personal on it, but still) and people are talking about stalking his personal photos.

I cannot headdesk hard enough, right now.

The guy keeps himself private. Very private. He clearly does not want his stuff posted all over the internet and he almost certainly does not want millions handfuls of fangirls trying to talk to him any time he's online.

If you're going to add the kid, add his MySpace, which is open to the public and is regularly updated with his new songs.

Leave the boy some privacy. Don't repost his photos. Don't repost his comments. Don't repost things his friends and family say to him. He's young and he's very new at this. Don't scare him away from his fandom before he even understands it.

But if you have the opportunity, a one-off suggestion that he gets a Twitter account, where he can manage the communication himself, may not go amiss.

Edit: Boom! There are the personal photos which have almost certainly come from his Facebook - posted by someone other than the Brazilian guy. Sounds like he's added a handful of others, too.

*sigh* Steep learning curve, you say?

Edit 2: Someone just said she has "about 20" pictures from his Facebook to post. She has already posted maybe five. This is really not good.

My original question, however, still has not been answered. Fucking morons.

They did apologise, but really, how much is that worth?

I am what I am.

Why must everyone be a stroppy teenager about everything?

*headdesk*

In other news (or perhaps topically), Facebook are fucking mental and decided that my name - my real name, the one on my passport, and the one my colleagues call me - is in fact fake, and have disabled my account until such time as I give them my "real" one. Which it already is and which I was already using.

How did we come to this? Well, their automated system would not accept my roller derby name (long explanation, if you don't know roller derby, but think of it kind of somewhere between an alterego and a stage name and then assume everyone who plays the sport only knows you by that roller derby name and not the one your parents gave you) so, using their help form as provided, I asked if it would be possible for it to be added as the alternate name or as a nickname. Their response was to tell me my real name was fake (proving that 'Natalia' who emailed me back had not read my email at all and just made random assumptions, as it clearly explained what the circumstances were) and disable my perfectly legitimate account.

So, if you had me friended and now can't find me, this is why. I haven't blocked you, the fucking idiots have blocked me.

PWND.

Remember how I basically pwnd most of Facebook the other day?

I just blew my own record COMPLETELY OUT OF THE WATER.

That's right. I am the sixth highest scorer EVER.

So, I went through and added a bunch of people on Facebook - I've rarely used it because I have LJ, but I lost track of a lot of the friends I had on there when I switched journals.

It's so weird to be talking to Stevie again! He used to be a really good mate.

So - if you know people I knew from the Camden scene back in the day, get them to add me on Facebook. I'm not sure that the content of my LJ these days would excite many of them, but my Facebook is less FOB-oriented and it would be a good to catch up with people.

You know, it's bad enough when people try to add you for scene points on Buzznet, but when random strangers add you on Facebook, that's just plain not cool. >:|
