A lot of people on here probably know that I run the street team for a band called Holy Roman Empire. What they might not know is that the band is partially made up of ex-members of Arma Angelus, Shai Hulud and Stabbed by Words - all of which have some significance to pre-FOB era Pete, Joe and Andy.

Now, over the last year, Jay, their guitarist, and I have become good friends* and today, in between arguing about the best kind of casual footwear, he linked me to a radio show a good friend of his just launched. You probably know that guy as [livejournal.com profile] askheychris. So, on the first show he did, Chris asked Jay to be his special guest and what resulted was an hour or two of absolute hilarity, reminiscing on the good old days in the band when Jay got to "sleep" with the "Princess", their drummer wanted to play 'I'll show you mine' and planes flew into buildings...

It really is an awesome show which can be listened to via archived podcast, and you'll probably hear a few things about P-We and the Arma years that you never knew. And you'll laugh your arses off, I promise.

You can IM Chris during the show when it's happening live (the Jay show aired on 22 April), or call in, and so far it sounds like a lot of people want Jay back on there for more antics.

YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY CHECK IT OUT

And when you've done that, you may as well go and check out his band, too. Happy listening!

(*no, I swear I'm not bragging, we just are and usually I filter shit if I even mention the guys so people can't bitch at me for it)

[livejournal.com profile] shinko - I've been waiting for you to come online for days, but I haven't seen you.

Go here. That was Jay's idea, not mine.

Just giving you guys a heads up, because I know some of you are getting into them, now, but Holy Roman Empire (the band I run the street team for) are selling some of their older shirts for $4.00 (WTFIknow.) and they also have a gift package for whichever festival you celebrate right now, including their album, their old EP (which contains three of my favourite HRE songs) and one of their t-shirts (which is currently limited to the point where they only have one left of size medium!) all $25.00.

Click the banner to be taken directly to the deal at their webstore (where you can also pick up those ridiculously cheap shirts):

The band isn't that well-known, yet - but they're getting there and they come from a bunch of bands I think you guys might have heard of. Arma Angelus? Stabbed By Words? Rise Against? Then there's The Hope Conspiracy, Suicide File, Shai Hulud...

Even if you don't buy the packs, check out the band's stuff on their MySpace. Emily has an amazing voice, and you get to be cool and say you knew them before they were (particularly) famous.

There's also the LJ comm at [livejournal.com profile] holyromanlj.

If you want to do anything for me in the season of good cheer, but their album for someone else. Spread the word. ♥

I'm waiting for the final seal of approval on this, but I'm quite proud of myself for the gif. My genius, let me show you it:

Those of you who are/were Spitalfield fans, they will be playing their last show ever at The Metro in Chicago on 23 December.

Supporting will be my friends, Holy Roman Empire.

If you can get to this show, you should definitely check it out! Tickets are $13.00.

So, I made myself a couple of new icons.

Cobra Starship (not for sharing):

And two for HRE:

The album cover one is actually their first official, label-endorsed icon, so I guess that's pretty cool. You can take it without bothering to credit me, if you want it - it's going to be all over their MySpace soon.

HELP.

Can anyone scan the Holy Roman Empire article in AP for me, please?

The record company needs it (I kid you not).

So, as I mentioned in teh seekrit post™ - I've been asked to work on the Holy Roman Empire street team.

Today, work began. You can now join the Street Team at MySpace and if you're interested in news, you can also add [livejournal.com profile] holyromanlj for any new articles and discussion.

I know that a lot of the people on my flist would love this band if you gave them a listen - so just take a couple of minutes to check them out and let me know what you think.

(Some of you might be interested to know that members of HRE were formerly in Arma Angelus, Stabbed By Words and Rise Against - curiosity piqued?)

Okay, so, most of you know that I've been championing Holy Roman Empire for a while, now, and that pimping them is totally my thing. Well, at the moment, they're on the MTV 'On the Rise' website, and they need about 1,300 votes to get onto stage two. If they eventually get more than 25,000 votes, they could get onto MTV proper.

So, please kids, go here and help Holy Roman Empire get onto On the Rise.

They're an awesome band - a bunch of really great people with a really awesome singer and a whole lot of talent between them - and they would appreciate it so much if you went ahead and voted for them (especially if you made a point of doing so a couple of times).

Thank you. It would really mean a lot to me, as well as them.

VOTE!

And if you don't want to vote, at least check out their profile.

On 10 May, I ordered Holy Roman Empire's debut album. In fact, I pre-ordered it in both the Album & EP package and the solo Limited Edition Album versions.

On 6 June, I received a package, with a packing note listing all three discs and costs for both the package deal and the limited edition - but inside there was no limited edition CD.

I sent this email )

Today, I got home to find they had emailed on 11th June with this )

Actually, no, that isn't the case. They sent me the plain CDs, and not the limited edition.

So I said... )

They just emailed back with )

Seriously. WTF? I paid for this over a month ago. I sent them this )

...and I'm now waiting on a response. But what a fucking cheek?! I pre-ordered the Limited Edition on the day it was announced and I want it fucking fixed. I'm really, really annoyed. If I don't get a copy I'm going to find some way to report them to trading standards or something. That's really, really bad service.

Holy Hell.

I don't know what it is about the Chicago hardcore scene, but it seems to have produced such a nice bunch of people.

Check out Holy Roman Empire.

We have received confirmation for the trip to Chicago!

We're staying at the Lakeshore (originally they wanted to put us in the InterContinental, which worried me because it looked really posh, but this one seems much more young and hip - plus is has amazing Lake views and a bar on the roof) and flying out with American Airlines. Apparently, they were originally aiming for Virgin and yet another hotel which shall remain nameless because I'm fairly certain I know why there was 'no availability'.

We haven't been told the story with the gig, yet - I'm guessing it will probably be a guestlist thing.

We're considering going to another show the night before, because someone from another band I've spoken to recently is launching their album on 9 June. Tickets for Fall Out Boy for that night are still our first choice, I think, but we're also looking at the other gig. Literate & Stylish now has an interview with Holy Roman Empire and Jay Jancetic is lovely.

Plus, I was thinking about getting a tattoo while I'm out there and I've decided what I'm getting, now. Can anyone here recommend a good tattooist in Chicago?
