Further to yesterday's post about the Summer of Like, I'm actually thinking about seeing if I get this job and how much they offer me, and maybe possibly trying to organise something.

With the right people, I think that could be amazing.

Answer me some questions.

[Poll #1294037]

This would most likely NOT involve bandom escapades, just bandom types on a holiday in a bandom-related city. Unless they decided to play shows in town, then.

Edit: I suggest this hotel. It's a known chain, well located, and they do discounts for bookings of ten or more rooms.

Edit #2: Alternatively - we could rent apartments. this would work out about the same price as the Days Inn, and less if people were prepared to share double beds with people (as little as $50 per night). I'd consider it, personally.

You know what bandom needs?

It's own Summer of Like.

A week. In summer. In Chicago (because seriously, where the fuck else?). None of the convention crap. Just a bunch of dorks hanging out.

MAN. That would be so cool.

A day or two ago, I was looking through my excerpt documents, looking for a scene I had cut out of the Mpreg, and I actually found a few thousand words of one of the original beginnings. It was cut because I restructured the fic itself, but the backstory remains largely accurate. Some of it may even be creatively cut back in. In the meantime, however, I thought I'd share it with you because although this is how it happened in the story and it is canon, it's unlikely to ever appear in this form.

Mpreg excerpt: Or, how Joe realised he was pregnant. )

The morons just keep coming.

the more i keep reading comments, msg boards & all, the more disappointed i get in some of these fellow fans of mine. give all the 'reasonable reasons' you want, but YOU'RE the ungrateful ones. you shouldn't have shit to whine about. these guys HAVE given us a lot over the years. they've given us all they could as musicians, as people. they're not obligated to do a damn thing for us; not to blog for us, share any bit of their personal life, give us free/exclusive/discounted opportunities, not to give up what bit of average life they can have to tour and interview, even continue making music. they could be complete dicks and not give us shit, okay? there are such things as respect and understanding. oh, and for some of you...even having a life. look, i get it. i love these guys, too. but truly, some of ya'll just need to lay off and relax. this is the trouble with fans special treatment anyway, you start thinking you deserve something. lol...thats just not so.

You honestly don't have a clue about OCK, do you? You don't seem to realise that the money isn't going to the band, it's going into the pockets of a COMPANY called Artist Arena.

None of the boys blogs are related to the fanclub - we get those for free - and virtually NOBODY is blaming the boys in the band directly for any of this. (The people blaming the boys are being smacked down by the very people complaining about Artist Arena) It seems from what Andy said to us today, that they don't even realise the extent of what is going on.

OCK has become a business rather than a fanclub, and that's what we have a problem with. They blacklist people who dare to complain - and that's if you can find a way to contact them, because they have no customer service. They scared people into renewing their memberships sometimes more than SIX MONTHS early (losing their remaining membership time) because of their new tiered system, and never used it. They treat OCKs like little children, patronise us, charge us $20 for postage - for us only to receive envelopes with $4.50 mail cost printed on them - and as part of our 'exclusive' membership packs, send us grainy, distorted copies of pictures that have been around for years, which are clearly (and poorly) printed out on the machine in the office. Some people don't get their welcome or renewal packages at all.

Nobody blames the band for that. They blame the people running the OCK and repeatedly criticise them for casting the band in a negative light through their claims that they support the rip-off schemes they come up with. If you believe the lies that they are using to cover up their mercenary crap, then you are a fool.

So before you start slagging off the fans who are out there spending more money than you can imagine on the real fan matters - getting to shows and buying their records or t-shirts and promoting the band to other people - check your goddamn facts. We ARE real fans, we love the band, but we don't love being fucked around by a company that claims to represent those four guys and is making a total mockery of the fans' loyalty to them.

And if we don't "deserve something" - such as respect from the organisers - after paying for the membership in the first place, when do fans deserve anything?

PSA: Fuck the OCK

We haven't even nearly got this up and running, yet, but [livejournal.com profile] jedi_iwakura began a plan today to collect the various issues people have with the OCK/AA, along with people's negative experiences, and collect them together to illustrate to the band directly, as well as Crush, why people are so absolutely furious.

We also want to provide solutions and alternatives.

After the last post made on FOBR, which is full of manipulative bullshit and blatant likes, I wanted to say that we've made a community: [livejournal.com profile] sunshine_corps and we plan to use it to organise our response.

As I said, it's not finished yet, but it's somewhere to go for the timebeing.

This [livejournal.com profile] ysosrsbandom thing kind of becoming a waste of energy. I'm sure the mod had good intentions but ultimately, it's not all that fun when you can't take part in the time-based challenges because they're posted when you're asleep and the mod is in a gang anyway... and there's at least one total whackjob in my team who I seriously would like to just erase from my consciousness.

I think tomorrow I'll formally quit unless I have some kind of epiphany over night. I've been saying it for at least the last three days, though, so I doubt I'll be changing my mind.

On a less meh-ful note, I have written half a page of asylum fic.

So, someone noted in a far corner of LJ that they thought Joe's tattoos on his stomach and chest had been airbrushed out.

This is a bit odd, because a) his stomach tattoo is still there (although...is that being lasered off? It looks faded...) and b) Joe doesn't have any chest tattoos, does he? That's Hurley with his tribute to his mommy.

You see? So... has anyone else ever heard of any chest tattoos on Troh?

Edit: WAIT A SECOND. That is some MAJOR manscaping that has been going on there. O_o

Jesus, there are some miserable bastards in this fandom.

Two nights running I've had people try to start shit in comments on [livejournal.com profile] truefobinglove. Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] mcsheplovers got herself banned and tonight [livejournal.com profile] evil_authoress is getting in a tizzy because I made a joke about the differences in responses between Pete's latest Hey Monday post on TFL and ICH.

I had this exchange in the middle of a thread:

[livejournal.com profile] sharpestarmy: Also agreed. Hey Monday just makes me sick. Cassadee doesn't have an original voice nor is it a good one and to make it worse, the music sounds like any other band's. At least Paramore's music and Hayley's voice is different (not by a whole lot, but it's something) from this crap band.

And to be honest, I'm getting tired of Pete mentioning his Supras in a lot of his posts just because a friend is wearing them.

[livejournal.com profile] icedmaple: It's kind of hilarious that on this blog, people are saying how they can't stand Hey Monday, and on the same post on [livejournal.com profile] icecreamhdaches everyone is flailing about how amazing they are...

I'm not sure whether than means we're cynical old bints over here or whether it's just that people will speak their minds more when they don't think they're going to get flamed for it.

Also: Pete's birthday Supras didn't look great quality to me. They looked like they'd come apart after a few weeks' wear. I'd rather just have the Converse version.

In wades [livejournal.com profile] evil_authoress: Or maybe people just have different opinions and aren't monoliths based on the comms they're in?

Nah. That's just silly.

Whut? She went on to say my post was "grudgewanky". Because I called the people at TFL, of which I was one, cynical bints? Huh? WTF?

*sighs* Sometimes, this fandom boggles my brain. You can't even make jokes without people getting all pissy about it. Completely unnecessary. It's like people go out of their way to read negativity into everything. Chill out, people. Don't take things so seriously. Sometimes, people are just trying to be funny, even if you don't get the joke.

It takes way too much energy to be offended by everything. Let it go - you'll be much happier.

The Mpreg briefly hit 45,000 words and 100 pages, yesterday.

And then I deleted a huge chunk, so now I'm working back up to it. I tell you this, though: this fic is going to be EPIC.

EPIC, I TELL YOU.

I wish it was a fic I could post chaptered, but it really wouldn't work.

Especially considering the fact taht I need to get TWNW posted. Chapter fourteen has, frankly, been a right bastard. Gah.

So, I'm supposed to be working on TWNW, but I can't get the Mpreg out of my head, because I want to get to a bit in which I can feature a Roy Orbison song. :|

It's going to be a tiny bit cheesy, very Patrick and totally adorable.

But I still have about ten months of fic-time before it can happen. Dammit.

Further to my Paedogate last post, I wanted to record this little bit of crack meta-exchange from [livejournal.com profile] truefobinglove:

[livejournal.com profile] icedmaple: Have you seen the episode of South Park with the brown note, where they make the whole world crap themselves?

This is Pete's brown note.

[livejournal.com profile] agent99: basically that was the best description ever right there.

though, fob coming up with a note that makes the world crap themselves would be a lot funnier.

[livejournal.com profile] icedmaple: It's probably Pete's masterplan. He's just waiting until such time as they can appear on every television, radio and browser on the planet simultaneously through the sheer enormity of their fame. And then, just as he's being invested as God, he'll make Patrick get out that little glittery horn trumpet kazoo of his and let the shit quite literally hit the fans.

Although the flaw in this plan (because this is Pete and there's bound to be one) is that by the time he's invested as God he could do it by thinking it anyway, and he wouldn't need the little glittery kazoo.

(Also: Patrick is Mr Hat. When he's not Kyle.)

Srsly. Am I right?

THIS ONE IS FOR THE PETERICK SHIPPERS:

Because if Pete said the sky was blue, it'd be code for "I'm fucking Patrick". If Pete said "I've bought some pie for dinner", it'd be code for "I'm fucking Patrick". And if Pete said, "Could you pass the salt?" it'd be code for "I'm fucking Patrick".

So... does anyone who feels proactive about the ship and has great ideas for potential challenges and ways to get people involved, want to become a co-mod on [livejournal.com profile] trohslashstump?

Unfortunately, Lin has decided to move on to other fandom exploits and doesn't have much time for it anymore. It's not a busy comm, per se, but it takes someone who actually cares, to put together challenges which will receive two entries if you're lucky.

Drop me a comment if you're interested. I want to get a challenge underway in the next 48 hours to back up the ship manifesto.
